Résumé : |
The idea that teaching listening could and should take place in the classroom becomes more
and more popular especially in second or foreign language classroom. Today, it is claimed
that through regular listening, knowledge can be constructed and speaking skill can be
developed. This study presents an investigation designed to provide a concrete picture of the
effects of English listening on learners’ speaking skill. In this context, learners are supposed
to undertake listening comprehension class as a method to ameliorate their speaking abilities.
The present work aims at showing that the listening method can be the best pedagogical
strategy to develop the speaking skill. The investigation tools used in this research are two
questionnaires administrated to both the third year LMD students, and teachers of Oral
Expression module to get information about the impact of listening on developing the
learners’ speaking skill. The educational setting in which this study took place is the Foreign
Languages Department, Mentouri University Constantine. The analysis of the questionnaire
shows that both learners and teachers consider listening as an important pedagogical strategy
on enhancing the skill of speaking |
