Résumé : |
The present research discusses the importance feedback plays in the development of student writing. To check whether feedback is used by teachers in the appropriate way, a questionnaire has been administered to a sample of third year students of English (Applied Language Studies). The research hypothesized that if written feedback were given at an early stage, students would consider it; and, this would improve their accuracy in the final product. Moreover, if learners read more often individually, their level in writing would improve and this would, hopefully, encourage them to self-edit. The results of the questionnaire have revealed that, in general, teachers use feedback but only in the final product. This, unfortunately, is not very effective for the improvement of students’ writing. On the other hand, it has been found that students do not read individually enough; a practice, which is crucial for the development of writing skill.
