Résumé : |
Reading is one of the most essential skills required for learning any language. For this reason, the principal point of this study is to know the perceptions of both teachers and students at the department of English at Constantine 1 University about reading as a tool for enhancing the writing skill. Successful writing requires a rich vocabulary stock which in turn is achieved through much practice of reading. Thus, this research work is based on the hypothesis that Third-year LMD students of English at University of Constantine (1) have positive attitudes towards the use of reading as a major vocabulary source and a helpful means in enhancing their writing performance. For achieving the objectives of the present study, we relied on two questionnaires; one is suggested for students to probe their views about reading and the second one is suggested to teachers of Written Expression to get an idea about their perceptions about reading as an important element for vocabulary enrichment and writing improvement. The results obtained revealed that both Third-year LMD students and Written Expression teachers have positive attitudes towards reading as an important factor in writing improvement. |
