Résumé : |
The research in hand intended to investigate the disciplinary problems faced in the Algerian
middle school classes, and their effect on the teacher, the pupil, and the relationship
between the two. This study also analyzed the causes of disruptive behaviours and attempted
to provide different strategies to build an effective and perfect classroom discipline .The
target population of this study is Constantine middle school classes during the academic year
2013/2014.In order to verify the validity of our hypothesis, two main questionnaires were
used with both teachers and students .The results obtained strongly confirm the hypothesis set
in our study ,that maintaining classroom discipline and rules on the part of the teacher could
decrease the incidence of misbehaviour in the class on the part of the pupil .Therefore ,this
dissertation can be considered as a guide for teachers who face discipline problems in general
and new teachers in particular to build a ‘good’ discipline . |

Résumé : |
This dissertation is intended to investigate the main problems that third year LMD students at
the University of Constantine 01 face when writing in English. Our main concern was to help
students overcome their difficulties in writing essays. In order to achieve this purpose, a
hypothesis was put forward, that if teachers of written expression provided students with
intensive practice in writing and detailed feedback, the learners ’ability to write would
improve and they would produce more effective essays. To check our hypothesis two
questionnaires were designed one for teachers and the other one for students. The analysis of
the findings reveals that students’ major writing difficulties are related to vocabulary,
spelling, grammar, punctuation, coherence, cohesion and organization and could be overcome
through reading, using dictionaries, group work, practice and corrective feedback. |

Sciences du languages ENHANCING STUDENTS COOPERATIVE LEARNING |
Index. décimale : |

Résumé : |
The present study is an attempt to have a better understanding of cooperative learning (CL) and its use to create a healthy atmosphere in the FL class. It investigates students’ and teachers’ views about groupwork and the role it plays to enhance motivation in the English class. The questionnaire is used as a tool to collect data. One questionnaire was administered to third year LMD students of English, at Ben M’hidi University, Oum El Bouaghi. Another questionnaire was addressed to their teachers at the same university.
The analysis of the results of the two questionnaires showed that third year students of English have positive attitudes towards pair/group work, but consider individual work as equally important. Moreover, third year teachers of English care about the affective side of the students and use CL techniques to motivate them to learn. Thus, the research hypotheses were confirmed |

Language Sciences Integrating Culture School EFL |
Index. décimale : |
420 Langue anglaise |
Résumé : |
With regard to the close relationship between language and culture, it is assumed that teaching a
foreign language and teaching its culture are inseparable. The present research highlights the
importance of integrating culture in the foreign language classroom. More particularly, it
investigates whether the English language culture is given due importance by Algerian secondary
school teachers and learners of English. This work is based on the hypothesis that culture is
neglected by teachers and pupils at the secondary school level. To test its truthfulness, a survey
consisting of two questionnaires is carried out. The first is directed to secondary school teachers
of English to investigate whether they consider culture in the classroom or not. The second
questionnaire is designed for second year secondary school pupils in order to know about their
perceptions of the place of culture in their English class. The obtained results strongly confirm
the hypothesis: more than 75% of English secondary school teachers overlook culture and prefer
to stress other aspects in the class like accuracy and fluency. Also, up to 80% of the pupils seem
not to be interested in the English culture and thus no efforts are spent by them to know about it.
In the light of these findings, a number of recommendations are suggested to teachers to
adequately implement culture teaching in the classroom, and to pupils to make them aware about
the cultural component in foreign language learning. |
