The main argument of this study is that homeownership is considered by most Americans as an integral part of the American Dream. It has many socioeconomic benefits. The American government did many efforts to expand homeownership through different interventions. However, the result was a housing market crash where millions of Americans lost their houses. After a decade, many Americans still believe in the American Dream of homeownership and they are working hard to reach it. This study shows that despite the different downturns in the housing market economics, homeownership is still considered as part of the American dream that must be achieved for better life.
