Résumé : |
This study reviews the construction of Jane Austen‘s feminism, in her romantic comedy Pride & Prejudice, through the illustration of her views concerning marriage and women‘s identity. The study challenges scepticism about Austen‘s feminism and offers arguments to support the author‘s feminist orientations. Austen‘s views on matrimony and motives behind it, in the novel, are examined through a feminist psychoanalysis approach. Additionally, the study offers an investigation of the twenty-first psychological syndrome: the Cinderella Complex, within the nineteenth century novel Pride & Prejudice. This work aims to elaborate on the grounds of Austen‘s feminism, through a deep analysis of her opinions about feminist identity construction and the institution of marriage. In sum, this study brings to light Austen‘s devotion to women‘s issues, and opens new doors for further feminist, psychoanalysis of Pride & Prejudice. |
