His novel Things Fall Apart and some of his essays are the primary sources used for arguments in this study. This study finds out that the use of oral tradition in Things Fall Apart aims at educating African people about their glorious past and creating awareness for the other on issues relating to Africa’s cultural heritage. Further, the study finds that through Things Fall Apart, Achebe tells his people and the world who Africans really are, to wrestle with the hegemonic western imposed identity and reinvent a new identity. Things Fall Apart stresses that Igbo oral tradition is able to give modern Nigeria a set of values shared among the African in pre-colonial time, which is the basis of the African identity. Because, if there is going to be any substantial development in the African society, there must be a well established link and relation with the past which in Achebe view is the foundation for progress and growth Diplome : Master 2 Permalink : https://bu.umc.edu.dz/master/index.php?lvl=notice_display&id=6222 Oral tradition in achebe’s novel things fall apart : Part of the african identity [texte imprimé] / Khadidja Sebti, Auteur ; M. ali Yachir, Directeur de thèse . - CONSTANTINE [ALGERIE] : Université Frères Mentouri Constantine, 2015 . - 49 f. ; 30 cm.

Format : 30 cm. Note générale : Une copie électronique PDF disponible en BUC. Langues : Anglais (eng) Catégories : Lettres et Langues Etrangères:Langue Anglaise Tags : Languages, Literatures and Civilizations African American Women’s Struggle Respect Alice Walker’s Color Purple Index. décimale : 420 Langue anglaise Résumé : As the Black women’s literature after the 1960s was a response to the injustices practiced against black women; Alice Walker’s The color Purple focuses on the black women’s oppression caused by black men. Our dissertation’s main concern is to follow the African American women’s struggle with the black men, to gain respect and freedom. The general proposition of the dissertation suggests that: if African American woman want to gain respect as individuals who deserve fair and equal treatment, they have to refuse the black men’s abuses. To confirm this proposition, we will use qualitative research designs, through a narrative analysis based on Feminist and Psychoanalytic criticism approaches. Therefore, the results of the study were that it is not only that black men are not always completely aware of their abuse to black women, but also it is the passivity of women that participate in worsening the abuse. As a result; black women in America would not gain respect as individuals who deserve fair and equal treatment, unless they stop to accept the black men’s abuse. The aim of Walker behind such themes in her novel is to provide a heroic female to inspire other women, and thus our study comes to emphasis and to teach not only black women, but all women around the world, how to claim for their rights to have a respectful lives. The study may also be useful for literary as well as for Feminist studies. Titre : The social Illness of the Poor class during the victorian era through Charles Type de document : texte imprimé Auteurs : Rafiha Derradj, Auteur ; M. ali Yachir, Directeur de thèse Editeur : CONSTANTINE [ALGERIE] : Université Frères Mentouri Constantine Année de publication : 2013 Importance : 51 f. Format : 30 cm. Note générale : Une copie électronique PDF disponible en Bus Langues : Français (fre) Catégories : Lettres et Langues Etrangères:Langue Anglaise Tags : British and American Studies Social Illness Poor during Victorian through Index. décimale : 420 Langue anglaise Résumé : This research is an examination of the effect of industrialization on the
underprivileged members in the Victorian society throughout Charles Dickens
representation of the social illness in Oliver Twist. It will study the impact of industrial
revolution on the Victorian society as it created a massive urban development, leading to a
higher class division.
Although the Industrial Revolution fostered urban growth, it is unfortunate that
the number of the poor also increased. Many of them lived under squalid conditions with
poor sanitation leading to fatal diseases and even death. Being a socially conscious
writer, Dickens depicts the world in which he lives, as a strategy to raise awareness in his
society of what was really happening, and hopefully, to bring social reforms. Apart from
the poor, Dickens also portrays the cruel treatment of children at the workhouses. This
research will show that Dickens was an obstinate critique of the Poor Law and its
administration. Furthermore, it will be proven that Dickens also detested child labor
because of his own childhood experience. Moreover, his abhorrence is also noted in the
way he creates child characters like Oliver Twist who are mistreated and exploited as
