Résumé : |
The present descriptive –interpretive study aims at investigating the attitudes of English University teachers and students about teaching and studying according to a blended learning policy in the classroom and explore on its integration in EFL classes to enhance learners’ self-regulation. The underlying hypothesis is that if teachers of English at the University Des Frères Mentouri Constantine integrate blended learning in their EFL classes, this will prompt their students’ self-regulation. The educational setting in which this study takes place is the Department of Letters and English Language, Faculty of Letters and Languages, University Des Frères Mentouri Constantine. A group of 50 learners taken randomly from a total population of about 259 Master one students has been used as a sample in the present study. To achieve the aim of the undertaken research, answer the research questions, and attempt to confirm the validity of the hypothesis, the researcher uses two research tools namely: a questionnaire and a structured interview. The teachers’ questionnaire aims to collect data about teachers’ awareness about blended learning and its application in EFL classes to develop students’ self-regulation. The students structured interview seeks to investigate on the students’ current learning habits and how can the integration of blended learning help them develop their self-regulation. The Findings of the investigation confirmed the hypothesis and shows that blended learning approach is an effective remedy that helps students develop their self-regulation and become autonomous learners. Consequently, we urge committees in charge at the Department of Letters and English Language, University des Frères Mentouri Constantine, to implement blended learning in the English Language Curriculum to ensure a better learning experience and enhance university students’ autonomy. |
