Résumé : |
The present study aims at examining the differences in the effectiveness of using the
monolingual and bilingual dictionaries, and determining which type of these dictionaries is
more reliable and efficient in learning vocabulary. Thus, we hypothesize that the learners
who use the monolingual dictionary will more likely improve their vocabulary. The
hypothesis was evaluated by an analytical study inferred from the results of both teachers
and students questionnaires. The analysis of the latter revealed that most Third- year EFL
students use dictionary. However, the majority of them uses the monolingual type (MD)
and finds it as easy as the bilingual one. In the same vein, the use of the monolingual
dictionary is more beneficial and advantageous than using the bilingual. Accordingly, the
hypothesis was validated |
