Résumé : |
This dissertation aims at presenting and analyzing the aspects of socialism in George Orwell’s Animal Farm. Generally, Orwell’s social circumstances turned him a socialist political writer, whose works directly reflect his thoughts; Animal Farm is the perfect novel to clarify Orwell’s anti-communist stand and his defense on true and pure socialism. This study is divided into two chapters. Chapter one sheds light on the historical and social background about the emergence of the abused socialism by the Russian communists and the circumstances that inspired Orwell to write about it. The second chapter is devoted to analyze the figures that exactly reveal George Orwell’s thoughts, hopes, and despair of socialism. Orwell’s aim of writing about political issues in general and socialism in particular concluded that Animal Farm is an allegorical story devoted to criticize the Russian’s maltreatment of socialism. |
