Résumé : |
One of the most difficult challenges in teaching a foreign language is to find the best ways to provide
students with information. Because the teacher is not only a source of knowledge, but the most
important thing is how to provide knowledge. Moreover, we find that there are different styles of
teachers; some are autonomy-supportive, others are controlling ones. The current work aims at
shedding light on to which extent the teachers’ autonomy affects the students’ motivation. That is
why we hypothesized that if teachers of third year L.M.D students were more autonomysupportive,
this would enhance their students' motivation towards their studies. And in order to check
the hypothesis, two questionnaires were administered; one to third year English L.M.D students at the
Department of English at Mentouri University of Constantine, and the other was designed for
teachers at the same department. The results have revealed that teachers’ autonomy helps students
to develop and enhance their intrinsic motivation. |
