This study attempts to investigate the attitudes of first year English students at Mentouri
Brothers University towards the use of captioned videos for vocabulary acquisition. It
hypothesizes that If 1st year students use captioned videos, then their vocabulary will be
enhanced or improved. This work consists of two chapters, one deals with everything related
to vocabulary and captions and how they are linked to each other, the other chapter is the
analysis the data gathered. To achieve this aim, two questionnaires were given to both
teachers and students to collect sufficient data to be worked on. The result revealed that the
use of captioned videos is beneficial for enhancing vocabulary, and this study demonstrates
that both students and teachers are supporting its use in the future because it is a good tool for
vocabulary acquisition and can have other benefits. |
