This study is carried out to shed light on the major problems affecting fourth year
middle school pupils’ level while learning English as a foreign language, at two different
middle schools in Constantine. In order to investigate those problems, we hypothesis that: if
language teachers and environment have positive effects on pupils, pupils will master English
very well. To check the hypothesis and to achieve the aim of this research, a test and a
questionnaire are administrated to a sample of sixty-six fourth year pupils. This research
focuses on identifying the obstacles that hinder pupils from studying English as a foreign
language as it should be learnt. Actually, the results of the used tools in the investigation have
confirmed the research hypothesis and revealed that English grammar, pronunciation and
vocabulary are the main difficulties, in addition to teachers’ method and the pedagogical
environment. Hence, we have suggested some solutions for pupils that may help to develop
their level and ability in this language. |
