Résumé : |
Reading is a very important skill in life. The purpose of reading differs from one
person to another. One reads to know the news over the world, or for pleasure. ESL
students should try to develop their reading skills in their curriculum to develop their
intellectual capacities. Learners who read a lot are more likely to have better scores than
the ones who do not. Good readers can understand individual sentences as they understand
paragraphs though they don't know the meaning of all the words. Through reading they
learn vocabulary as they learn how to guess the meaning.
Reading has to be followed by understanding. One has to understand the general
meaning of what is read and know the general and the sub ideas of the text. Through many
research studies, many methods that help with reading comprehension were suggested.
One of the methods suggested is note taking while reading.
This work aims at showing how note taking is an effective tool for enhancing
secondary school students’ reading comprehension. For this reason, we used a research
tool that consists of a posttest experimental design in order to see whether the students'
reading comprehension level is enhanced after applying the note taking method or not. |
