atlantica Desf. and Ferula vesceritensis Coss. & Dur. The GC and GC-MS analyses
showed that the essential oils of P. atlantica are rich in α-pinene, limonene and spatulenol,
while β-phellandrene, α-terpinene, β-elemene, γ-gurjunene and germacrene-B were found
as major components, for the first time for the essential oils of the genus Pistacia .
α-Pinene and β- pinene were predominant in the essential oils of Ferula vesceritensis;
however the first time that α-phellandrene, fenchylacetate, elixene, l'aristolene and cartol
were found as main components in the essential oils of the genus Ferula . The both essential
oils of P. atlantica . and F. vesceritensis exhibited a good antibacterial activity against
clinical isolated bacteria and food borne pathogens. The essential oils of P. atlantica
possess an important antioxidant effect which were determined using β-carotene-linoleic
acid, DPPH- and ABTS•+ -scavenging activities, metal chelating effect and CUPRAC
assays. The essential oils showed a moderate anticholinestérase activity compared with
galantamin for the inhibitory activity of principal enzymes of Alzheimer’s disease AChE
and BChE.
In a second part, we synthesized 12 new piperidine derivatives, which have been achieved
through [Cp*Ru]-catalyzed intermolecular coupling of allylic alcohols and propargylic
amides with water as the only side product, and demonstrated that the selective
oxidativecoupling cinnamyl alcohol derivatives and 2-substituted allylic alcohols. This
methodology allows the access to 3,4- and 3,5-disubstituted enamides as valuable
scaffolds for the preparation of 3-methylpiperidine derivatives through selective [Cp*Ru]
catalyzed alkene hydrogenation. - 211 f. ; 30 cm.

A bibliographic search on the genus Linaria (Scrophulariaceae) shows that this genus is reputed to accumulate a diversity of secondary metabolites, in particular iridoids and flavonoids, molecules known for their various biological activities. In this work, our interest focused on the phytochemical and biological study of an Algerian species, Linaria scariosa (Scrophulariaceae). The endemism of this specie for Algeria and Tunisia has encouraged us to start this work, especially since this plant has never been studied. The study began with the evaluation of the chemical composition by GC / MS which showed a richness in iridoids, which is in good agreement with the chemotaxonomy of the family Scrophulariaceae. The various chromatographic separation methods used in our experiment made it possible to isolate, from the ethyl acetate and n-butanol extracts, 10 compounds : four iridoids, five
flavonoids and one sterol. Among the isolated compounds, one new iridoid named 6-O-transcinnamoylantirrinoside, and two new flavonoids named desmethoxycentauriedin-7-O-β-neohesperidoside and desmethoxycentauriedin-7-O-α-rhamnopyranosyl(1’’’’→2’’)-β-rutinoside. The structural elucidation of the isolated compounds was carried out by analyzing the UVVisible, NMR1D (1H, 13C and DEPT) and 2D (HSQC, HMBC, COSY and NOESY) spectra and comparing with the data of the literature. The biological activity tests: antioxidant (in vitro), anticholinesterase (in vitro), and antibacterial (in vitro) performed on the extracts, show that the species exhibit remarkable antioxidant and anticholinesterase activity. The inhibitory activity of α-glucosidase performed on the three new products indicates that the new iridoids has a remarkable inhibitory effect on α-glucosidase.

On the one hand, this study is focused on a phytochemical and biological investigation of Centaurea involucrata Desf., an Algerian species that has never been the subject of phytochemical investigation. On the other hand, the chemical composition of the essential oils of Thymus algeriensis , Marrubium vulgare, and Senecio massaicus aerial parts, as well as the assessment of the biological activities of the last specie's essential oil. The petroleum ether extract of C. involucrata was studied using GC-MS, and 13 compounds were identified, the majority of which have a wide range of activities. The HPLC/DAD analysis of phenolic acids and flavonoids of chloroform and n-butanol extracts showed the presence of seven phenolic acids and three flavonoids. While, the LC-MS/MS analysis of the ethyl acetate extract showed the presence of 26 phenolic compounds. The various chromatographics methods of separation used in our research allowed the insulation of 11 products from the ethyl acetate extract. The structures of these compounds were elucidated by combining the results of analyzes of UV spectra, 1D NMR (1H, 13C and DEPT) and 2D NMR (COZY, HSQC, HMBC and NOESY) and by comparison with data from the literature. The biological activity tests on the extracts, which included antioxidant, antimicrobial, and anticancer activity, showed that the species has notable antioxidant and anticancer activities. The chemical analysis of the essential oil of the aerial parts of T. algeriensis, M. vulgare and S. massaicus by GC-MS, showed that the major constituents are: germacrene D (29.6%), β-caryophyllene (11.0%) for T. algeriensis, β-bisabolene (36.3%) for M. vulgare and m-cymene (30.5%), n-hexadecanoic acid (14.8%), and docosane-11-decyl (10.43%) for S. massaicus. The essential oil of S. massaicus has on one hand moderate antioxidant activity, and the other hand has a higher power of inhibition against butyrylcholinesterase (BChE) compared to acetylcholinesterase (AChE). The molecular docking study shows that the compounds docosane-11-decyl and octaethyleneglycol monododecyl ether exhibited a strong interaction against enzymes linked to Alzheimer's disease and against the main protease Covid-19 and endoribonuclease Nsp15.
