This work is concerning the phytochemical study of two Algerian plants, the first belonging to the Fabaceae family (Genista microcephala coss & dur) and Asteraceae family (Jurinea humilis DC). The phytochemical study of the two Algerian medicinal plants allowed the identification of five isoflavonoids from ethyl acetate and butanol extracts of G. microcephala and three flavonoids from butanol extract of J.humilis, isolated for the first time in both plants, The structurs of compounds were elucidated by various spectroscopic methods spectral: 1D and 2D NMR (1H, 13C, DEPT, HMBC and HMQC), UV, mass spectrometry (MS) and by comparison with lettirature valrieus. The biological study carried out to determine the phenolic content and to evaluate the antioxidant and antimicrobial activities of Genista microcephala. Antioxidant activity was evaluated by various in vitro tests, including Ferric Ion Reducing Activity (FRAP), Cupric Ion Reducing Antioxidant Capacity (CUPRAC), and total antioxidant capacities (TAC). The antimicrobial activity of ethyl acetate and butanolic extracts of G. microcephala in addition of fatty acids content of different parts of plant was evaluated against human pathogenic bacteria, fish bacteria and yeast. The used methods were agar diffusion method and the determination of minimal bactericidal and fungicidal concentrations (MBC and MFC). Ethyl acetate extract was the most active regarding antioxidant and antimicrobienne assays. The tested activity seems to be due to the high content of this extract on isoflavonoids.Note de contenu :

Chromatographic separations and purifications of these plants led to the isolation and identification of 18( S. stellata) and 3 compounds(S. carealeum). data.GC/MS analyses of hexane extract S. stellata allowed the identification of 43 metabolites belonging to several important families, fatty acids and their derivatives (87%) are the major ones, wherever 19 metabolites were identified and alkenes ( 60%) is the major family followed by 30% of fatty acids in hexane extract of second plant. S. stellata showed a good activity antioxidant with: DPPH, ABTS and Reducing Power tests. Compared with the other tested extracts, the n-butanol extract showed the highest activity. Using UHPLC-DAD-ESI/MSn, the knowledge of the S. stellata phenolic profile was successfully extended, for the first time establishing its content in important secondary metabolites, such as chlorogenic acids and flavonoids. Chlorogenic acids and flavonoids comprised more than 80% of the compounds found, which explains the recently reported antioxidant activity of this plant extract.

The experimental material consists of nine safflower varieties different in their geographic origin. These genotypes were cultivated in the field based on the randomized complete block design (RCBD) with three replicates. Since Safflower is a drought tolerant crop, the objective of this work was the investigation of the contribution of some morpho-phenological and productivity traits on seed and oil yields and fatty acid oil content of safflower varieties under semi-arid conditions.
ANOVA, PCA, correlation matrix analysis between variables (traits), and the cluster analysis of observations (varieties), are used to clarify the clustering pattern of genotypes tested. The variability was also remarked among genotypes when the fatty acid composition of seed oil was tested.
The results revealed that the most suitable safflower variety, under semi-arid conditions of eastern Algeria was Syprus which was provided from ICARDA. It gave the highest seeds yield (420.53 g/m2) and oil yield (114,56 g/m2). The American variety 80/482/3S came in the second position with 358,46 g/m2 and 80,29 g/m2 for the two yields, respectively, while the least variety was OT-455
(Indian origin) with 144,68 g/m2 for seeds yield and 40,63 g/m2 for oil yield, and it gave the highest weight of one hundred seeds (4.44 g). Considering the seeds fixed oil percent (%OY), we note the advantage of the American varieties, where Gila produced the highest rate (38.47 %), and Kusumba (Pakistani origin) had the lowest with 23,30 %.
From the analysis of the correlation matrix, we have seen that seed yield (SY) and oil yield (OY) were controlled essentially by three parameters (traits):
number of seeds per plant (NSP), biological yield (BIO) and harvest index (HI).
Looking for fatty acid composition, our results confirm that safflower is considered as the best example of a crop with variability for fatty acid composition in seed oil, and this explain clearly their multiples purposes in cooking and cosmetic and in medicine.
