الكفاءة التواصلية بين الثقافات الكفاءة اللغوية الكفاءة البراغماتية الكفاءة الثقافية الثقافة البراغماتية منهج تقنيات ،تقييمIndex. décimale : 420 Anglais et vieil anglais (anglo-saxon) : indice de base 42 Résumé : In the light of the rapidly-changing world characterized by globalization, the concept of intercultural communicative competence is introduced to Foreign Language Teaching. This new construct has been propounded to supersede that of communicative competence in order to cater for the needs of learners to function effectively and appropriately with people from other cultures. Learners of English are required not just to develop their communicative skills, but also to adopt new attitudes of tolerance, empathy and acceptance of culture-specific norms and behaviours. These requirements are not systematically addressed by the teaching of English at Algerian universities. Particularly, and as a direct result, students at Mohammed Seddik Benyahia University, Jijel, are presumed to be not adept in managing intercultural contact and conversations even at advanced stages leading towards their graduation. On these accounts, a threefold aim is concocted for this study. The first aim is to diagnose the teaching of culture and its position in the implemented curriculum. The second and third aims pertain to suggesting a cultural pragmatic approach for teaching English at the tertiary level and assessing its effectiveness in developing learners’ intercultural communicative competence. To achieve the set aims, two hypotheses are formulated and tested out. The first stipulates that present teaching curricula, though incorporating culture and pragmatics of communication, seldom bring them to the forefront of teaching and, hence, do not serve the achievement of the desired outcome of improving learners’ intercultural communicative competence. It is put to the test using a questionnaire and a Discourse Completion Task designed to both teachers (n=16) and students (n=110), respectively. The data obtained revealed that teachers, though aware of the importance of culture, do not fully integrate it in their teaching syllabi, and that learners are unequipped with intercultural communicative competence. The second hypothesis maintains that using a cross-cultural pragmatic approach to teach English would result in enhancing this competence. It is tested by handing out two alternate tests to a control group and an experimental group of students (n=52) before and after intervention, which consists in implementing a semester-long cultural and pragmatic syllabus. Results of the pretest revealed convergent performances in and between the two groups of students, albeit failing to achieve passing scores. By the termination of the treatment period, the experimental group has not only outdone the control group in scores, but performed very positively on every aspect of intercultural communicative competence. On the basis of these findings, pedagogical recommendations are suggested to syllabus designers and teachers to assign culture adequate importance, one that is similar to language skills.

Many of them cannot appropriately translate texts in which the pragmatic and cultural content of the source text does not plainly coincide with that of the target text. It is hypothesized that this would be caused by failure to understand the pragmatic and cultural dimensions of utterances. In an attempt to test this hypothesis two research instruments are used, a questionnaire is administered to a sample of translation teachers and two translation tests to a sample of translation students. The research findings show that most translation students are unaware of the importance of the pragmatic and cultural dimensions of a text and this is reflected in the inadequate translation they produce. Hence, integrating teaching pragmatics in the teaching syllabus at the Department of Translation may help improve the students’ pragmatic skills and enhance their pragmatic competence in translation.

It studies the case of Master students at the Department of letters and the English Language, University of Constantine 1. It focuses on the pragmatic communicative strategies learners may deploy to avoid the inhibition of communication and miscommunication. It also
emphasizes that efficient English language teaching must integrate pragmatic factors and issues in order to obtain satisfactory results not only in the classrooms but, more importantly, when learners use the English language in real and authentic contexts. The hypothesis stated that an approach to teaching English which takes into consideration all of the linguistic, pragmatic and functional aspects of language would enhance the pragmatic and
communicative strategies of the learners. To test this hypothesis, the study makes use of two research instruments, a questionnaire administered to a sample of teachers and a Written Discourse Completion Task administered to a sample of students. The questionnaire aims at investigating the current teaching approaches and practices in the classroom. The Discourse Completion Task is used to elicit the different strategies Master students use in different communicative situations. A theoretical framework for a more pragmatic approach and a syllabus based on a pragmatic view of language use are suggested. These are significantly different from the usual approaches in that they rely substantially on a more up to date conception of language use in different social and cultural contexts.

It also investigates whether culture, social distance, and rank of imposition of the act have an influence on the use of the speech act of greeting, whether culture and social distance have an influence on the use of the speech act of responding to greeting, and whether Algerian
learners of English transfer their Algerian Arabic pragmatic and cultural knowledge into English in cross-cultural communication. The research is based on the hypothesis that the pragmatic failure of the English literate Algerian natives in performing the speech acts of thanking and greeting and responding to both would be mainly due to pragmatic transfer of their first language pragmatic knowledge into English. To collect data and verify this hypothesis, a Discourse Completion Task is used in both Algerian Arabic and English. The obtained findings provide evidence that cultural differences play a role in the pragmatic failure of English literate Algerian natives in cross-cultural communication, in performing the speech acts of thanking and greeting and responding to both. In addition, they transfer negatively some aspects of their pragma-linguistic and socio-pragmatic knowledge into
English.

The spoken or written linguistic phenomenon is the most important means of active and expressive communication of human society, expressing its purposes and different needs through the historical process and the
volatility of civilizations. And since this truth was demonstrated, human research has focused on investigating with great interest in the components and the secrets of this fascinating phenomenon, and its own laws or holistic;
according to rigorous scientific linguistic approaches. One of These modern approaches there is: stylistic lesson with holistic vision .
One of the most important characteristics of modern stylistic approach; that she was able to excel in his studies and analyzes the problem of language barriers of the sentence, and failure in terms of structuralism and point of
view (transformational generative grammar) Chomsky because at the moment the sentence was considered the main linguistic unity. While the stylistic see that the text is the main linguistic unity ... and thus the study of
the sentence or word, or (sentence paragraph) ... separate from what precedes or comes after it, or out of general linguistic context and semantic structure (text), is a form of shortcomings that prevented decoding of many
linguistic problems faced by a number of pioneers of linguistics of the sentence, and starting from this vision, which is a step in the quality of modern linguistics field and allows us to contemplate and reflect on el Hadith
el qudsi, and books el Sihah, especially (Sahih Bukhari and Sahih Muslim); we are in an aura of thoughts and ideas, loaded questions and concerns .., many of which present themselves as research subjects and scientifically
autonomous lesson, not the dogmatic and ethical side only, but the linguistic aspects its various forms and levels and trends.
And thus a careful study of a series of Sahih hadith qudsi treating it as (a blog from the infallible, language is more than a regular language, and this blog is a linguistic system), which indicate that (the style of the prophet is
very distinct), and all that it makes the researcher realizes that he is in front of a very distinct religious systemic unity, pro forma, the Qur'an and the Hadith other.
meanwhile it is imperative for researchers to recognize this unique linguistic phenomenon (hadith Qudsi), but from the point of view of scientific linguistics which studies the text as a series of events in words with meaning
and purpose of communication, whose existence begins with the sender of a linguistic event and ends with (the recipient), and for this, the unity of subject and unique objectivity and his ability to go beyond the linguistic
form are among the features of the hadith qudsi.
And view what has been previously said a series of questions emerge:
What makes the receiver responds with hadith qudsi different from it in the presence of the Qur'an or hadith sensations?
Is it for virtual reasons (The cohesion of the structure of its external relations) or for internal reasons (The cohesion of the structure of its internal relations)?
