Many of them cannot appropriately translate texts in which the pragmatic and cultural content of the source text does not plainly coincide with that of the target text. It is hypothesized that this would be caused by failure to understand the pragmatic and cultural dimensions of utterances. In an attempt to test this hypothesis two research instruments are used, a questionnaire is administered to a sample of translation teachers and two translation tests to a sample of translation students. The research findings show that most translation students are unaware of the importance of the pragmatic and cultural dimensions of a text and this is reflected in the inadequate translation they produce. Hence, integrating teaching pragmatics in the teaching syllabus at the Department of Translation may help improve the students’ pragmatic skills and enhance their pragmatic competence in translation.

Also the general public, who are neither trained nor fully prepared, must be informed by decision-makers about a host of topics, which have a direct bearing on the planet and its inhabitants, such as "shifts in the social and the rules that govern them and their rights, and much more" in order to 'enlist their support" . Terminology is closely linked to Discourse for Special Purpose (DSP) with its ramifications into fields and sub-fields of knowledge and is conducted among peers and between them and non-speers. Translators, in most cases, are probably situated within the latter category, as it is impossible to specialize in the very wide spectrum of subjects dealt with, which follow an intensively specialized course in a multilingual direction. This is a veritable dilemma.
The term "terminology" covers three concepts. The first concept is terminology, which is an inter-and trans-disciplinary field of knowledge dealing with concepts and their representation. Secondly, an aggregate of terms representing the system of concepts of a given subject. The third one is a publication in which terms represent a system of concepts.
It is a main vector in knowledge transfer, and it is vital for knowledge transfer. When the terms are well-defined, communication is carried in a suitable manner.
Terminology and translation are tightly related. Thus, the translator finds himself confronted to many problem while approaching the translation of terms belonging to a specific field of knowledge. This is clearly noticed with a specific kind of terms. We mean, hereby, terms which carry a religious and cultural background. Therefore, the translator has to deal with the cultural systems, and not only with languages.
We have been motivated by the importance of this subject to do the current research entitled ''The problem of the Translation of the Terms Carrying a Religious and Cultural Background. The Case of the Terms Appearing in books of Legal Representation, Heritage and Legacy in the Algerian Family Code ". It is a comparative study based on two fields: law and religion.
This research aims at finding out the procedures used in the translation of those terms. The main question asked is" what are the techniques used by the translator of the Algerian of family code ".
The present research is divided into two main parts, in addition to the introduction and conclusion:
- The first part: is a theoretical study, it includes three chapters as it comes up:
Chapter one: discusses two main points; the languages for specific purposes and terminology. In this chapter, we expose the definition of the concept of the language for specific purposes. Then, we start to investigate the notion of terminology.
Chapter two: in which we get into the legal language and the term inspired from the Islamic law.
Chapter three: is a study of the techniques used in legal translation.
The methodology of research adopted in this part is based on the description of the notions being involved in this study.
- The second parts: is also divided into three chapters:
Chapter one: includes the presentation of the corpus of working.
Chapter two: is a look on the Islamic jurisprudence that concerns the field of legal representation and heritage. This is to have knowledge about legislative meaning of those terms.
Chapter three: is an analytic study of the translation given to the terms having a religious background.
An appendix is placed following the conclusion and is a table summarizing the analytic study.
This research leads us to the following results:
Translation of “Terms and Notions Inspired from Islamic Law into French”, is a difficult process that requires a good knowledge about their characteristics and meanings in language, law and religion.
In order to translate “Terms and Notions Inspired from Islamic Law into French”, The translator must have a religious background. He must also use specialized books and dictionaries which can help him to understand before translating.
Some law terms which have their roots in the Islamic legislation but which carry a universal meaning need simply to be translated by giving their equivalents in the target language.
Some equivalents do not offer a satisfying understanding of the meaning of the Arabic word, such as: “aceb” and “radd”.
Some law terms express notions which do not exist in the French language. They are a good example of what is called untranslatability, and represent the different difficulties and obstacles that stand against the translator and make him confused and unsatisfied with any of the translations that may be given to such terms.
When the notions do not exist in the French language, terms are translated using: paraphrase, paraphrase plus lexical and syntactic equivalence, in addition to borrowing, and borrowing plus lexical and syntactic equivalence.
To end up, we would be satisfied if that this research contributes in the enhancement of the process of the translating of the terms which carry a religious and cultural background. - 2013 . - 151 ورقة. ; 30 سم.

Its object is the study of translation methods to achieve acculturation between different cultures and even between thoughts, within the text of Algerian French-writing authors. To understand the effects of translation: on the original text and on the receiver of the translated text (source culture and target culture). This study was carried out on the novels of Mouloud Feraoun: The poor Man’s son (1950), Land and the Blood (1953), Days of Kabylie (1954), Heavy tracks (1957). This research propose a problematic that is necessary for the study, the methodological framework is specified so as to be able to analyze the translations and the effects on the target culture and the reader, both on the acculturation of the other. When looking into the effects of translation on the text and the target culture, we observe that: the transfer of language and culture has allowed the other to better understand the concepts of culture of the original text and the set of linguistic and semantic phenomena. Acculturation is also the most important dimension in translation, since it enriches communication and cultural dialogue. Acculturation can take place among peoples as it can be between the members of a single people, for thoughts differ from one person to another and from one society to another. Acculturation has never a one-way: Cultures depend on the social relations between people. But these are often power relations. Different cultures will therefore find themselves in relation to each other in a position of strength or weakness. But the socially strongest groups do not always succeed in imposing themselves on the weakest groups. Cultures are thus ensembles in permanent construction, with phenomena of structuration, destructuration. There is not necessarily a donor culture and another recipient. This five-chapter study aims at analyze the Arabic translations of three novels by the Franco-Lebanese writer Amin Maalouf: Léon l’africain (Leo Africanus) translated by AffifDemachkia, Le rocher de Tanios (The Rock of Tanios) and Le périple de Baldassare (Balthasar’s Odyssey) translated by Nahla Baydoun. Indeed, the transferring of these novels from French to Arabic does not take place according to the traditional process of translation which consists in bringing back a totally foreign text, since the Arabic translator maintains a linguistic and cultural complicity with the original French-speaking text. Generally, the novels of French-speaking writers of Arabic origin, like Maalouf, carry elements of Arab cultural identity imbedded in the language of writing (French). Thus, we have tried to describe and analyze the process of translation into Arabic, which can be assimilated to a return trip to the origin (a repatriation), and this through examples which concretize this ""repatriation"". In addition, we tried to follow the evolution of the relationship “language / cultural identity” among Frech-speaking writers between the ""colonial"" and ""postcolonial"" periods. The study was able to demonstrate that the Arabic translations of Amin Maalouf's novels can be considered as a journey back to the origin (a repatriation), especially if the translator manages to find balance between the process of returning cultural elements to their nurturing environment, and that of the recreation of the aesthetic, stylistic and artistic novels in the Arabic language. Finally, for postcolonial Francophone writers that writing in French, stems from a free and assumed choice, and in no way reflects an abandonment or denial of the original language and cultural identity, but this choice is experienced as an affirmation of oneself in a writing which deconstructs the French language, in order to reconstruct it in a process of interbreeding with their languages and cultures of origins. It uses an evaluative approach to investigate and discuss the problems and intricacies of translating medical texts from English to Arabic. The purpose of the study is to show the difficulties of translating medical terms and how they are tackled by first year master students of English.
It also attempts to identify the importance of reading comprehension in achieving a good translation of medical texts. Accordingly, it is hypothesized that if students manage to use reading comprehension strategies to generate inferences that can help them understand medical texts; their translation will be more efficient. To give consistency to the evaluative phase, two questionnaires have been used, a questionnaire for fifteen teachers and a questionnaire for fifty students. The teachers’ questionnaire aims to collect information on the Teachers’ perceptions of the strategies adopted in the translation of medical texts. The students’ questionnaire aims to collect information on the students’ knowledge concerning the features of medical texts and the strategies allocated to their translation. A pre- post experimental design has also been used. The aim of the pre-test is to depict the students’ translation and elicit the terminological difficulties encountered in the translation of medical texts. It also attempts to evaluate the strategies used by students in the translations of medical texts. The post-test aims to evaluate students’ use of reading comprehension strategies to achieve a good translation of medical texts. The result of the analysis revealed that students’ use of reading comprehension generate inferences that enhance their understanding of a source medical text and the production of an effective translation of it.
