الكفاءة التواصلية بين الثقافات الكفاءة اللغوية الكفاءة البراغماتية الكفاءة الثقافية الثقافة البراغماتية منهج تقنيات ،تقييمIndex. décimale : 420 Anglais et vieil anglais (anglo-saxon) : indice de base 42 Résumé : In the light of the rapidly-changing world characterized by globalization, the concept of intercultural communicative competence is introduced to Foreign Language Teaching. This new construct has been propounded to supersede that of communicative competence in order to cater for the needs of learners to function effectively and appropriately with people from other cultures. Learners of English are required not just to develop their communicative skills, but also to adopt new attitudes of tolerance, empathy and acceptance of culture-specific norms and behaviours. These requirements are not systematically addressed by the teaching of English at Algerian universities. Particularly, and as a direct result, students at Mohammed Seddik Benyahia University, Jijel, are presumed to be not adept in managing intercultural contact and conversations even at advanced stages leading towards their graduation. On these accounts, a threefold aim is concocted for this study. The first aim is to diagnose the teaching of culture and its position in the implemented curriculum. The second and third aims pertain to suggesting a cultural pragmatic approach for teaching English at the tertiary level and assessing its effectiveness in developing learners’ intercultural communicative competence. To achieve the set aims, two hypotheses are formulated and tested out. The first stipulates that present teaching curricula, though incorporating culture and pragmatics of communication, seldom bring them to the forefront of teaching and, hence, do not serve the achievement of the desired outcome of improving learners’ intercultural communicative competence. It is put to the test using a questionnaire and a Discourse Completion Task designed to both teachers (n=16) and students (n=110), respectively. The data obtained revealed that teachers, though aware of the importance of culture, do not fully integrate it in their teaching syllabi, and that learners are unequipped with intercultural communicative competence. The second hypothesis maintains that using a cross-cultural pragmatic approach to teach English would result in enhancing this competence. It is tested by handing out two alternate tests to a control group and an experimental group of students (n=52) before and after intervention, which consists in implementing a semester-long cultural and pragmatic syllabus. Results of the pretest revealed convergent performances in and between the two groups of students, albeit failing to achieve passing scores. By the termination of the treatment period, the experimental group has not only outdone the control group in scores, but performed very positively on every aspect of intercultural communicative competence. On the basis of these findings, pedagogical recommendations are suggested to syllabus designers and teachers to assign culture adequate importance, one that is similar to language skills.

It contrasts these speech acts when performed by English natives (Engineers), English literate Algerian natives (third year students of English), and English non-literate Algerian natives (lay people) to determine whether culture, gender, social distance and status of interlocutors have an influence on the use of the speech act of thanking and the way they respond to it. It also investigates whether culture, social distance, and rank of imposition of the act have an influence on the use of the speech act of greeting, whether culture and social distance have an influence on the use of the speech act of responding to greeting, and whether Algerian
learners of English transfer their Algerian Arabic pragmatic and cultural knowledge into English in cross-cultural communication. The research is based on the hypothesis that the pragmatic failure of the English literate Algerian natives in performing the speech acts of thanking and greeting and responding to both would be mainly due to pragmatic transfer of their first language pragmatic knowledge into English. To collect data and verify this hypothesis, a Discourse Completion Task is used in both Algerian Arabic and English. The obtained findings provide evidence that cultural differences play a role in the pragmatic failure of English literate Algerian natives in cross-cultural communication, in performing the speech acts of thanking and greeting and responding to both. In addition, they transfer negatively some aspects of their pragma-linguistic and socio-pragmatic knowledge into
English.

The study provides four chapters previoused by a introduction an followed by a conclusion.
In The introduction There is the importance of the research an the reasons of shoosing it, the previous works about it, definition of each
chapter and section, also in the introduction there the subject of language, its important and secondary functionals and the steps of
modern l’inguistics studies.
In the first theoritical chapter , ther is difinition of the discourse and its components, its relation with a text and difinition of discours strategy also its categorizing it and the subject of contextual discourse and quranic discours objectives and the relation between the audience and the discourse.
In the second chapter there is a definition of pragmatics its philosophical history, its important issues and the definition of
AHEL EL KITAB and charcetrristics of their discourse and comparaison between the two discourse (MEKKI an Madani) also the direct and
inderect discourse finally their position about the discourse which is addressed to them.
The third chapter is pradical of the different strategies of AHEL EL KITAB, first defimion of strategeans and their language and
Rhetorical and logical tools (ways) used by them, and description of important strategies existed and analysing them.
In the forth chapter which is also pratical, there is a treatment of an important strategy of the discourse periorbital and convincing strategy in the discourse of AHEL EL KITAB, this after limitation of the different tools used to make influence and convince.
In the conclusion, there is a summary of important results of the resarch, recommendation, the results show the way is used the

This research goes into two pragmatic aspects of the Koranic narrative discourse by studying speech acts annd argumentation in the stories of both prophets Ibrahim and Yusuf -Peace be upon them-.
In the first part of the study, speech acts appearing in the above stories are classified in
tables revealing their different types, purposes and illocutionary force according to Searle's
taxonomy: assertives, directives, commissives, expressives and declarations.
Taking the verses context as a basis, the study examines the use of these acts and the way they occured. It also defines the speech act through its explicit and implicit illocutionary force (direct and indirect). Then, it examines the literal meaning -expressed in the form of a sentence- which involves the propositional content and the explicit illocutionary force which is expressed with a verb. The literal or explicit meaning is formed by the combination of the content and the explicit illocutionary force.
Along the same lines, the research deals with the implicit meaning of the verses which is composed of two sub-meanings: conventional and conversation meanings.
The second part studies the different rhetorical, linguistic and logical argumentative strategies in the two stories. First, it shows various rhetorical figures and how well their argumentative value is achieved within this unique narration. Then, it focuses on linguistic argumentative strategies such as connectives (in addition to argumentative factors and their argumentative function). Finally, it deals with logical argumentative strategies like syllogism which plays a role in convincing others.
