In view of the fact that less attention is given to this skill in the real classroom, many obstacles will face students in listening to native speech. This study is designed to investigate students’ level in listening skill and revealing the common difficulties they may face while listening to English recordings. Moreover, it aims to suggest some possible remedies for students’ weaknesses to assist them in enhancing their listening aptitudes. This research depends on the view that if third year students might have a low level in the listening skill and that they may face difficulties in dealing with English recordings. The investigation tools used in this study are two questionnaires directed to both Oral Expression teachers and third year LMD students, to gather data about listening in general, besides a test administrated to third year students to assess their listening average level. The educational settings in which this study took place, is the Foreign Languages Department, at University 1 of Constantine.
