This study aims to determine the effectiveness of vocabulary knowledge on reading comprehension. For this purpose, a questionnaire is designed to eight English teachers at El Houria high school in order to figure out their points of view about their students’ reading ability. Another questionnaire is addressed to 32 pupils at El Houria high school to know their opinions about the relationship between reading and vocabulary knowledge. Then, a test is conducted on the same sample to gather accurate results on the effectiveness of the vocabulary knowledge on reading comprehension. The obtained results could confirm our hypothesis
If the high school learners have sufficient vocabulary knowledge, they will succeed in reading comprehension |
