Résumé :	Students learning English as a foreign language, face difficulties in understanding and using culture-bound collocations. One of the reasons is the deficiency in their English collocational competence. The present study aims to investigate first year Master students’ awareness and knowledge of culture-bound collocations by answering two questions: Are first year Master students aware of culture bound collocations importance in language learning? Do they actively and passively know culture bound collocations? To answer the study questions, a sample of 25 first year Master students are requested to answer a questionnaire and take a test. The questionnaire gives insights about students’ awareness about culture bound collocations, whereas the test explores the students’ active and passive knowledge of culture-bound collocations. The findings of the study show that Master one students are aware of the phenomenon of collocation and they can passively understand the meaning of some collocations, whereas their collocational active knowledge is limited and needs improvement.
