Résumé : |
The current research is intended to investigate the relationship between intrinsic motivation and oral
performance. Our population consists of third year students and teachers of oral expression at the
department of Letters and English Language Frére Mentouri University. We carried out this study
under the hypothesis which claims that if students are intrinsically motivated their oral
performance is likely to be improved. In order to test the validity of this hypothesis we
administered two questionnaires that are devoted to know teachers and students' opinions about the
influence of intrinsic motivation on students’ oral performance inside the classroom. The results
obtained have shown that both teachers and students are aware of the significant role that intrinsic
motivation plays in students’ oral performance. Furthermore the two respondents emphasized the
need to establish a motivational atmosphere inside the classroom in order for students to perform
appropriately. On the light of these results, the previously mentioned hypothesis is successfully
proved based on students and teachers opinions that both of them agree on |

Résumé : |
The reading skill is the basis for students learning. It is the sensitive part in learning the
foreign language. However, students are not aware about its vital role in the process of
learning and mainly its effectiveness in promoting vocabulary and background knowledge. In
order to raise students’ awareness about the effectiveness of reading and how they get
motivated, we have conducted an exploratory research that tackles a strategy to make learners
engaged readers. This study aims at investigating teachers’ and students’ views about book
clubs as a way to promote learners’ motivation towards reading. We have started the study
with the following hypothesis: if the EFL learners are involved in various book clubs, their
reading motivation would be improved. To check the validity of the hypothesis, we have
designed two questionnaires; the first one is for English language teachers and the other one
for Master twostudents. After analyzing the obtained data from both questionnaires, the
results prove our hypothesis about the effectiveness of book clubs in promoting students’
motivation towards reading |

Résumé : |
The purpose of this study is to investigate the importance of teachers’ correction of spelling
errors in improving students’ writing performance. Particular attention is given to this topic
because spelling is a significant sub-skill of writing. Accordingly, we hypothesize that when
teachers use correction for spelling errors effectively, first year students at the department of
Letters and English Language, Frères Mentouri, Constantine 1 are likely going to enhance
their writing performance. We attempt to check the validity of this hypothesis through the
administration of two questionnaires: one for 10 teachers of Written Expression, and the
second questionnaire is submitted to 30 first year students selected randomly from a total
population of 493 students. The results obtained from this study show that teachers’
correction plays a crucial role in developing students writing performance. Therefore, good
writing ability depends to a larger extent on teachers’ correction for spelling errors. |
