Résumé :	English prepositions are especially difficult for students who learn English as a second /foreign language. Therefore, special emphasis should be devoted to this part of speech. The purpose of this research work is to indicate the main sources of difficulties encountered by second/foreign language learners when they deal with prepositions and to see whether communicative language teaching as a method could enhance the students’ prepositional usage. For the sake of examining the hypothesis, about whether teaching prepositions through Communicative Language Teaching to Second Year LMD students could improve their prepositional competence, we used two questionnaires administered to both teachers of grammar to elicit their opinion about the use of Communicative Language Teaching in teaching prepositions and Second Year LMD students in the Departement of English, at the University of Constantine 1. The results of the questionnaires have confirmed that Communicative Language Teaching can help learners to overcome the difficulties they face when they deal with this part of speech and improve their prepositional competence. These findings suggest to teachers of Second Year to include Communicative Language Teaching and communicative grammar activities in teaching prepositions.
