Résumé : |
Writing in a foreign language has gained a great interest among scholars, and many researches have been conducted in order to shed light on the various strategies that contribute in promoting the students‟ writing proficiency. Using a mixed method design, this study aims at investigating one of the debatable aspects: the effect of written corrective feedback on EFL students‟ writing performance. It also aims to explore both the teachers and students‟ attitudes towards written corrective feedback. The hypothesis indicates that teachers and students value the use of written corrective feedback and if EFL students receive it; their writing productions will be improved. Hence, in order to test the present research hypothesis, we administered, first, a questionnaire to both written expression teachers and students at the English Department (University of Constantine -1-), in order to elicit their attitudes towards the use of written corrective feedback and its effectiveness on the writing skill, plus a test that was divided into pre-test and post-test in order to explore the students‟ level in writing and examine whether the application of written corrective feedback enhance students‟ writing performance or not. The results of this innovative investigation demonstrate that both students and teachers have a positive attitude towards the application of written corrective feedback as a means to develop the students‟ writing performance |
