Titre : Coherence related problems in EFL essay writing : The case of third year students- university of constantine Type de document : texte imprimé Auteurs : Asma Hamlaoui, Auteur ; El kheir Atamna, Directeur de thèse Editeur : CONSTANTINE [ALGERIE] : Université Frères Mentouri Constantine Année de publication : 2013 Importance : 85 f. Format : 30 cm. Note générale : Une copie électronique PDF disponible en BUC. Langues : Anglais (eng) Catégories : Lettres et Langues Etrangères:Langue Anglaise Tags : Language Sciences Related problems EFL Index. décimale : 420 Langue anglaise Résumé : Coherence in learners‟ written essays is seen as a problematic and complex concept and thus lends itself to misunderstanding; nonetheless, it is a crucial aspect of any well-written piece of discourse. The present study aims to shed light on coherence related writing problems faced by learners‟ of English in the context of the English Department at the University of Constantine 1 and to suggest some strategies to improve coherence in their writing. In order to achieve this aim, 48 essays were rated for coherence problems by one rater and the same essays were analysed by the researcher for coherence global errors following the text-based operational definition adapted in this study. Next, the correlation between the rater‟s judgments and the types of coherence errors in each essay and the correlation between the rater‟s judgments and the number of violations for each coherence global error in each essay was calculated. To get further insights into coherence related problems, a questionnaire was administered to written expression teachers. The findings yielded by the analyses of the learners‟ essays and the teachers‟ questionnaires revealed a significant linear (positive) correlation between writing proficiency and coherence. The results showed that coherence is a recurrent problem in students‟ essays and that they more often than not violate coherence criteria delineated by text-based approaches. It is, therefore, safe to say that the hypothesis underpinning this small scale research work has been confirmed in the sense that the problems students face regarding coherence can be avoided, and effective production can be achieved if they were made aware of the importance of this concept and the aspects it entails. EFL learners the speaking skill through effective teaching methods and strategies. It seeks to
determine the common difficulties students face when speaking English in OE sessions. It has
been hypothesized that if OE teachers are aware of the importance of the speaking skill and
apply effective teaching methods and strategies, EFL learners speaking skill will be enhanced.
To verify this hypothesis, the case study research was conducted at Mentouri University of
Constantine the Department of Foreign Languages, relying on a questionnaire for 2nd year
LMD students, and an interview with OE teachers as instruments of the research. Based on a
description methodology, the obtained results have been analyzed. The data analysis
concludes with some important findings among which is the teachers and learners awareness
of the speaking skill importance and their readiness to apply effective methods and strategies
to enhance the learners speaking performance. The study ends up by providing some
recommendations and suggestions for EFL teachers to evolve in their teaching process.Diplome : Master 2 Permalink : https://bu.umc.edu.dz/master/index.php?lvl=notice_display&id=4426 Enhancing EFL learners speaking skill through effective teaching methods and strategies : The case of 2nd year LMD students of EFL at mentouri university of Constantine [texte imprimé] / Radja Ancer, Auteur ; Ahlem Kheniou, Auteur ; Lamia koussa, Directeur de thèse . - CONSTANTINE [ALGERIE] : Université Frères Mentouri Constantine, 2017 . - 62 f. ; 30 cm.

Titre : The difficulties faced by efl students when speaking english Type de document : texte imprimé Auteurs : Malik Boufendi, Auteur ; Mourad Aousat, Auteur ; Djamel Benkaza, Directeur de thèse Editeur : CONSTANTINE [ALGERIE] : Université Frères Mentouri Constantine Année de publication : 2017 Importance : 69 f. Format : 30 cm. Note générale : Une copie électronique PDF disponible en BUC. Langues : Anglais (eng) Catégories : Lettres et Langues Etrangères:Langue Anglaise Tags : Languages English Speaking English EFL Students Index. décimale : 420 Langue anglaise Résumé : The present study deals with speaking difficulties encountered by EFL learners at the English department, University of Constantine1. Throughout this study, we hypothesize that students do not participate in oral courses due to linguistic problems for example lack of vocabulary, mispronunciation, grammatical mistakes, and psychological problems (anxieties, fear, shyness…), also due to bad attitudes towards the topics and the lack of motivation. To confirm these hypotheses, we investigated the case of third year students (LMD) at the department of English, University of Constantine1, and teachers of oral expression at the same level. Our work is divided into two parts. A theoretical part, it includes two sections. In section one, we made a general overview about speaking skills and then we discuss in a detailed way the various obstacles that hamper the students‟ participation. In the second section, we suggest some techniques and activities that EFL teachers have to apply as solutions for the stated difficulties. The practical part deals with the methodology adopted to conduct the research in which we analyze the questionnaires that are administered to both students and teachers of oral expression in English department at University of Constantine1. The data obtained from the two questionnaires indicate that there are some factors affect the students‟ participation in oral expression course. Furthermore, the data suggests some techniques and activities that EFL students need to work with to get rid from these obstacles Diplome : Master 2 Permalink : https://bu.umc.edu.dz/master/index.php?lvl=notice_display&id=4507 The difficulties faced by efl students when speaking english [texte imprimé] / Malik Boufendi, Auteur ; Mourad Aousat, Auteur ; Djamel Benkaza, Directeur de thèse . - CONSTANTINE [ALGERIE] : Université Frères Mentouri Constantine, 2017 . - 69 f. ; 30 cm.

Titre : The impact of the algerian mother tongue on efl students’ english pronunciation : The case of third year students of english in applied languages at frères mentouri university, constantine Type de document : texte imprimé Auteurs : Hadjer Zebbouchi, Auteur ; Samia Sadallah, Auteur ; Jamel Benkaza, Directeur de thèse Editeur : CONSTANTINE [ALGERIE] : Université Frères Mentouri Constantine Année de publication : 2015 Importance : 88 f. Format : 30 cm. Note générale : Une copie électronique PDF disponible en BUC. Langues : Anglais (eng) Catégories : Lettres et Langues Etrangères:Langue Anglaise Tags : Applied Languages Algerian Mother EFL Pronunciation Index. décimale : 420 Langue anglaise Résumé : This study is a total of two chapters. The first chapter represents the theoretical part of our
research. The second chapter provides the analysis of the empirical data. The aim of this study
is to arrive at an understanding of the various features that make up the English pronunciation
and shed the light on the problems of pronunciation that students at Frères Mentouri
University, Constantine run into when they speak English. This resulted from the influence of
their mother tongue on their pronunciation of English in addition to the lack of the
phonological knowledge of the English language. To solve these problems, we hypothesized
that raising students’ awareness and putting more focus on the various features of the English
pronunciation would help them develop correct and intelligible spoken English. Our
hypothesis was investigated by means of a text that was meant to be read and recorded. For
this purpose, we have chosen a sample of 35 students from the Department of English Arts
and Language at Frère Mentouri University, Constantine. All of them were third year students
in Applied Languages. They were asked to read the provided text loudly while we recorded
their readings with a recorder so as to detect the pronunciation errors they made. The analysis
of the obtained results confirmed the validity of our hypothesis. Eventually, this study aims at
suggesting recommendations and strategies to help students overcome the interference of their
mother tongue in their English pronunciation and develop correct and intelligible spoken

Titre : The role of EFL learner's reading in learning new vocabulary knowledge : The case of second year LMD students of english, university freres mentouri Constantine Type de document : texte imprimé Auteurs : Ilham Ghelimi, Auteur ; Karima Simer, Auteur ; Linda Dakhmouche, Directeur de thèse Editeur : CONSTANTINE [ALGERIE] : Université Frères Mentouri Constantine Année de publication : 2017 Importance : 84 f. Format : 30 cm. Note générale : Une copie électronique PDF disponible en BUC. Langues : Anglais (eng) Catégories : Lettres et Langues Etrangères:Langue Anglaise Tags : Language Sciences language learners vocabulary written EFL Index. décimale : 420 Langue anglaise Résumé : Learning English is a difficult task for most foreign language learners particularly when it
comes to learning vocabulary. Since vocabulary is important for communication, learners
need to apply effective strategies to enrich their vocabulary repertoire not only to understand
English but also to easily express themselves both in oral and written form, but they often find
problems to do so. One of the most effective strategies to learn vocabulary is regular reading.
Reading is known to be one of the most important skills in language learning because it
enables students to increase their level of understanding the language and acquiring
vocabulary and language structures. However, many EFL learners are either not aware of the
important role of reading in developing vocabulary or do not give it much importance among
the other skills. This study aimed at investigating the role of reading in enhancing the
learners’ vocabulary for second year LMD students of English at the University “Frère
Mentouri”, Constantine. Based on what was previously mentioned, we hypothesized that if
learners become more aware of the importance of reading in learning foreign language, their
vocabulary repertoire will greatly increase. To test our hypothesis, two questionnaires were
used: one for the teachers of different modules and another one for second year English
learners at the Department of Letters and English at the University “Frères Mentouri”,
Constantine. The obtained results showed that reading is a very important skill in learning the
foreign language; it helps learners to know a large amount of words which facilitates their
communication. Besides that, many teachers claimed that reading is the best skill compared to
the other skills to solve students’ vocabulary problems. According to the results of the
questionnaires, the hypothesis was confirmed in the sense that both teachers and particularly
learners are aware of the importance of reading in learning the foreign language, and of the
fact that learners’ vocabulary repertoire will greatly increase through regular reading.Diplome : Master 2 Permalink : https://bu.umc.edu.dz/master/index.php?lvl=notice_display&id=4313 The role of EFL learner's reading in learning new vocabulary knowledge : The case of second year LMD students of english, university freres mentouri Constantine [texte imprimé] / Ilham Ghelimi, Auteur ; Karima Simer, Auteur ; Linda Dakhmouche, Directeur de thèse . - CONSTANTINE [ALGERIE] : Université Frères Mentouri Constantine, 2017 . - 84 f. ; 30 cm.
