between some features of British and American pronunciations as well as the reasons behind
mixing the two pronunciations. We hypothesise that if students are aware of the differences
between British and American pronunciations of /Q/ vs /A;/, /@/ or /#/ vs /r/ and /A;/ vs /&/,
they will not mix the two pronunciations. To check the validity of this hypothesis, a recording
test coupled with a questionnaire are administered to a random sample of second year Master
students of English specialised in Applied Languages at Mentouri University of Constantine.
The obtained results reveal that, because of the students’ carelessness and lack of motivation
to know pronunciation differences between British and American English, their pronunciation
is a hybrid of the two. In the light of this, the present research aims to suggest some effective
solutions to raise students’ awareness of the differences between British and American
pronunciations. These solutions will help them select their target models and, therefore, attain
a native-like pronunciation of either British English or American one.Diplome : Master 2 Permalink : https://bu.umc.edu.dz/master/index.php?lvl=notice_display&id=6389 Awareness of the differences in pronunciation of /q/ vs /a;/, /@/ or /#/ vs /r/ and /a;/ vs /&/ between british and american english : The case of second year master students of applied languages at mentouri university, constantine [texte imprimé] / Imen Mesbah, Auteur ; Nousseiba Boutra, Auteur ; Youcef Beghoul, Directeur de thèse . - CONSTANTINE [ALGERIE] : Université Frères Mentouri Constantine, 2015 . - 57 f. ; 30 cm.

Titre : pronunciation of strong and weak forms of function words Type de document : texte imprimé Auteurs : Salah-eddine Yellas, Auteur ; Achouak Bader, Auteur Editeur : CONSTANTINE [ALGERIE] : Université Frères Mentouri Constantine Année de publication : 2012 Importance : 72 f. Format : 30 cm. Note générale : Une copie électronique PDF disponible en Bus Langues : Anglais (eng) Catégories : Lettres et Langues Etrangères:Langue Anglaise Tags : Language Studies Pronunciation Strong Weak FormsFunction Words Index. décimale : 420 Langue anglaise Résumé : This study aims at investigating some pronunciation errors made by first year LMD master students at the department of foreign languages in Mentouri University, Constantine. For this, we hypothesise that: if EFL learners in Mentouri University, Constantine ignore the use of weak forms of function words in speech, they generalise the strong forms of those words on their speech as an interference of French pronunciation. To carry out this study, we have chosen a sample of twenty students for an evaluation test of transcription, and to answer an investigative questionnaire. The results have indicated that most of the participants have failed in transcribing some function words in that they have transcribed them in full forms. Furthermore, the answers of the questionnaire have demonstrated that those informants transfer the French style of speech and rhythm on their speech while communicating in English. To sum up, the obtained results have confirmed our hypothesis, and so the interference of French is a crucial element that affects EFL students’ pronunciation at Mentouri University, Constantine. Langues : Anglais (eng) Catégories : Lettres et Langues Etrangères:Langue Anglaise Tags : Applied Language Studies Computer-assisted Means Pronunciation Index. décimale : 420 Langue anglaise Résumé : This work aims to explore the effectiveness of the computer software (EZ-Speak) in helping
students learn a better pronunciation of English. For that, we hypothesized that is learners are
exposed to an effective computer-assisted pronunciation program, they would produce
language effectively. To check our hypothesis, twenty students of third year English at the
University of Constantine 1, chosen randomly for the experiment. The group was given a pretest
to determine its level in pronunciation; a post-test was established after eight weeks to
compare the results of the two tests. The findings raveled that that the software designed for
the purpose of the study has been effective in the development of the pronunciation skill for
third year English students at the University of Constantine 1. According to the results, we
can say that our hypothesis has been, to some extent, confirmed (H1).Diplome : Master 2 Permalink : https://bu.umc.edu.dz/master/index.php?lvl=notice_display&id=5890 Computer-assisted programs as an effective means for improving english pronunciation : The case of third year students of english, university of constantine 1 [texte imprimé] / Omar Redjeb, Auteur ; Badis Rekioua, Auteur ; Soulef Boulmerka, Directeur de thèse . - CONSTANTINE [ALGERIE] : Université Frères Mentouri Constantine, 2014 . - 67 f. ; 30 cm.

Titre : Problems Faced by First Year Students in the Pronunciation of English Vowels The Case Study of FirstYear Students of English at Mentouri Brother’s University-Constantine Type de document : texte imprimé Auteurs : Halima Benrahab, Auteur ; Ali Ghiat, Directeur de thèse Editeur : CONSTANTINE [ALGERIE] : Université Frères Mentouri Constantine Année de publication : 2016 Importance : 89 f. Format : 30cm. Note générale : Une copie electronique PDF disponible au BUC.
pratique.Diplome : Master 2 Permalink : https://bu.umc.edu.dz/master/index.php?lvl=notice_display&id=12205 Problems Faced by First Year Students in the Pronunciation of English Vowels The Case Study of FirstYear Students of English at Mentouri Brother’s University-Constantine [texte imprimé] / Halima Benrahab, Auteur ; Ali Ghiat, Directeur de thèse . - CONSTANTINE [ALGERIE] : Université Frères Mentouri Constantine, 2016 . - 89 f. ; 30cm.

Format : 30 cm. Note générale : Une copie électronique PDF disponible en BUC. Langues : Anglais (eng) Catégories : Lettres et Langues Etrangères:Langue Anglaise Tags : Applied Languages Algerian Mother EFL Pronunciation Index. décimale : 420 Langue anglaise Résumé : This study is a total of two chapters. The first chapter represents the theoretical part of our
research. The second chapter provides the analysis of the empirical data. The aim of this study
is to arrive at an understanding of the various features that make up the English pronunciation
and shed the light on the problems of pronunciation that students at Frères Mentouri
University, Constantine run into when they speak English. This resulted from the influence of
their mother tongue on their pronunciation of English in addition to the lack of the
phonological knowledge of the English language. To solve these problems, we hypothesized
that raising students’ awareness and putting more focus on the various features of the English
pronunciation would help them develop correct and intelligible spoken English. Our
hypothesis was investigated by means of a text that was meant to be read and recorded. For
this purpose, we have chosen a sample of 35 students from the Department of English Arts
and Language at Frère Mentouri University, Constantine. All of them were third year students
in Applied Languages. They were asked to read the provided text loudly while we recorded
their readings with a recorder so as to detect the pronunciation errors they made. The analysis
of the obtained results confirmed the validity of our hypothesis. Eventually, this study aims at
suggesting recommendations and strategies to help students overcome the interference of their
mother tongue in their English pronunciation and develop correct and intelligible spoken
