Résumé :	This study is carried out to shed light on one of the problems that 1st year master students come across while translating from English into Arabic. This problem is about the students' failure to translate English phrasal verbs appropriately. We try to analyse this problem and show the various reasons behind it, in addition to the appropriate solutions to solve it. The research data are collected using a test and a questionnaire. The further is made up of two exercises which aim to know and collect information about learners' familiarity and knowledge about phrasal verbs, and how far they are able to translate them either in isolation or within the context. The latter is made up of questions about translation and phrasal verbs aims to investigate the problems students face in translation in general, and in translating phrasal verbs from English into Arabic in particular. The results of the analysis show that students failed to provide appropriate equivalents of phrasal verbs in Arabic because of their total ignorance and insufficient exposure to them. They also show that most of students rely on the context and on the individual components of the phrasal verb which most of the time lead them to wrong and inacceptable translations.
