Résumé : |
Researches in the field of foreign language learning have indicated the importance of the mastery of the four language skills; listening, speaking, reading and writing. As far as writing is concerned, recent studies have determined that this skill is unavoidable in the learning process. Yet, writing is characterized as being a complex system , as it is proved to be affected by plenty of factors that are linked either to the administration, the teachers or the learners . More particularly, this research study focuses basically on the learners and the potential factors behind their poor writing performance in English. Therefore, to investigate our hypothesis and fulfill the aim of this study, two main questionnaires have been administered. The first questionnaire is devoted to written expression teachers at the level of the department of English at the University of Frere Mentouri, and the second questionnaire is designed to Third year students at the same university. The identification and the analysis of the reasons and the questionnaires’ obtained results affirm that students’ poor writing production is linked to their lack of motivation to write, their anxiety when writing, lack of reading and first language interference on their written products. |
