Résumé : |
English has many varieties; the most two widely used are British and American. Although spoken American and British are generally mutually intelligible, there are enough differences to cause misunderstandings and misuse especially among EFL students. Students at Mentouri Brothers university seem to mix between the two varieties; therefore, this research aims to investigate the level of mutual awareness of the differences that exist between BrE and AmE at the level of grammar, vocabulary and spelling. It has been hypothesised that EFL Master 1 students can differentiate between British English and American English at the level of grammar, vocabulary and spelling. The findings have revealed that Master 1 students are aware of the differences between British and American English in terms of spelling at first, then vocabulary at second; however, they show low tendency in terms of grammar |
