It aims to contribute to shedding more light on the different reasons behind code switching. Furthermore, it seeks to identify its types that exist in the speech and writing of some Algerians as well as to highlight the frequency of occurrence of code switching in both discourses. The study has shown that some Algerians tend to shift from Algerian Arabic (AA) into French (FR) while exchanging ideas in radio programmes as well as chatting via Facebook. We hypothesized that they switch in order to communicate easily and successfully. In order to check the validity of the hypothesis, recorded and written data were used, and the results of the analysis of the corpuses have confirmed this hypothesis.
