Résumé : |
Currently, the sophisticated digital devices are now far and widely used in EFL classrooms by
students who aim at promoting their learning process. However, based on our experience as
students, there are language teachers who prevent their students from using some technologies
such as smartphones during the regular sessions. This study, therefore, aimed at finding out
about the students’ and teachers’ views as regards the integration of smartphones in EFL
writing. Having such aim, we hypothesized that if students use their smartphones in the
writing session, their teachers will prohibit them. In order to confirm or disconfirm our
hypothesis, two questionnaires were addressed. The teacher questionnaire was administered to
twenty EFL written expression teachers selected among all EFL teachers in the Department of
English at Constantine University to shed light on their attitudes and reactions regarding the
significance of smartphone in enhancing the students’ EFL writing skill, while the student
questionnaire was handed to sixty second year students at the same department to investigate
their views towards the same issues. Based on the students and teachers’ declarations, it was
revealed that the integration of smartphones in EFL writing is very beneficial in writing. Both
teachers and students stated that most teachers are not against the use of smartphones, the
result which disconfirmed our hypothesis. From this perspective, it is worth mentioning that
smartphones’ pedagogical use can offer a fruitful future for the development of EFL writing
skills. |
