Applied Language Studies Translating Economic English into Arabic |
Index. décimale : |
420 Langue anglaise |
Résumé : |
Economic translation is one of the most current translations, it is indeed a difficult task which
requires considerable efforts and practice, that is why we hypothesize that students must be
familiar and have enough background knowledge in the economic language in order to avoid
a great number of difficulties that they face during translating this sensitive field. We
investigate this explicit hypothesis by means of a questionnaire and a test which were
administered to Students of Applied Language Studies. Therefore, the analysis of the finding
data proves that students’ mistranslations are due to the lack of economic background
knowledge and the lack of practice in translating economic terms. In the light of these results,
some pedagogical recommendations were providing in order to solve these problems and find
suitable solutions to reach an appropriate translation |

British and American Studies British Welfare Economic Social Scale |
Index. décimale : |
420 Langue anglaise |
Résumé : |
This dissertation aims at describing and analyzing The British Welfare State on the social and economic scale between 1945 and 1951. To have an idea on the impact of this process, a description of the ravages of the war is vital to have a clearer idea of the change that the Welfare brought. The first chapter talks about the impact of the Second World War on Britain and about the reasons that were behind the unexpected defeat of Churchill and his party in the elections of 1945. A chance for those members Attlee recruited to show what they were able to do. The second chapter tackles directly the topic starting by the Beveridge Report concerning social security, education and housing. The principles of this reform can be found in The Beveridge Report and The Keynesian Theory. For economy, a plan was established known as ―the Nationalisation‖ that improved the productivity. Nevertheless, the efficiency of The Welfare State, during the following years, was considerably decreasing making it exposed to criticism and rejection |
