argumentative writing. The study hypothesized that, in writing classes, cohesion is most of
the time not sufficiently addressed. As a result of such neglect, students will resort to use
repetition as the only cohesive devise. To test this hypothesis, textual analysis is applied to
20 argumentative paragraphs written by first-year students at the department of English,
Mentouri University. The study concludes by confirming the hypothesis that students
overuse repetition with all its manifestations with coordination and word repetition are the
frequently used ones. This is mainly caused by lack of instruction in EFL writing classes
which results into a transfer from Arabic L1 as these features are known to be the
landmarks of Arabic language.Diplome : Master 2 Permalink : https://bu.umc.edu.dz/master/index.php?lvl=notice_display&id=4144 An investigation into the use of repetition as a cohesive device in EFL Students’ argumentative writing : The case of 1st year licence students at Constantine 1 University [texte imprimé] / Lamia Khalfallah, Auteur ; Fairouz Souli, Auteur ; Selma Sia, Directeur de thèse . - CONSTANTINE [ALGERIE] : Université Frères Mentouri Constantine, 2017 . - 47 f. ; 30 cm.

Titre : Student's awareness of the importance of reading can encourage them to read more Type de document : texte imprimé Auteurs : hanane Boucenina, Auteur ; Azddine Boulfelfel, Directeur de thèse Editeur : CONSTANTINE [ALGERIE] : Université Frères Mentouri Constantine Année de publication : 2013 Importance : 60 f. Langues : Anglais (eng) Catégories : Lettres et Langues Etrangères:Langue Anglaise Tags : investigate hypothesized teachers’ opinions Index. décimale : 420 Langue anglaise Résumé : The aim of this study is to investigate the importance of reading in the case of first year
LMD students of English, at the University of Constantine 1, to improve their abilities in reading.
We have hypothesized that if the students were shown the importance of reading in learning a
foreign language, this would probably make them aware of such an importance and, thus, their
reading abilities would improve. In order to achieve this aim, two questionnaires have been used.
One questionnaire has been administered to a group of first year LMD students, at the department
of English, at the University of Constantine 1, and seeks to discover the students’ attitudes
towards reading. The other questionnaire which has been delivered to a group of teachers of the
same department, tries to support and confirm the results obtained in the students’ questionnaire.
It also analyzes teachers’ opinions, methods, and suggestions in order to deal with the situation.
The analysis of the results obtained from both students’ and teachers’ questionnaires show that
students do not practice reading much outside the classroom but are just satisfied with reading
what the teacher gives them inside the classroom. The results have also proved that students do
not make efforts to improve their poor level in readingDiplome : Master 2 Permalink : https://bu.umc.edu.dz/master/index.php?lvl=notice_display&id=5534 Student's awareness of the importance of reading can encourage them to read more [texte imprimé] / hanane Boucenina, Auteur ; Azddine Boulfelfel, Directeur de thèse . - CONSTANTINE [ALGERIE] : Université Frères Mentouri Constantine, 2013 . - 60 f. ; 30 cm.

Titre : Using predicting and inferring as reading strategies to enhance students’ reading comprehension : A case study of second year LMD students of English at the constantine Type de document : texte imprimé Auteurs : Fatima Zohra Saada khelkhal, Auteur ; Samir Laraba, Directeur de thèse Editeur : CONSTANTINE [ALGERIE] : Université Frères Mentouri Constantine Année de publication : 2011 Importance : 97 f. Format : 30 cm. Note générale : Une copie électronique PDF disponible en BUC. Langues : Anglais (eng) Catégories : Lettres et Langues Etrangères:Langue Anglaise Tags : Language Sciences reading investigate using predicting Index. décimale : 420 Langue anglaise Résumé : This research is an attempt to investigate the extent to which using predicting and inferring as reading strategies influence reading comprehension. It aims at investigating whether the students practice their thinking skills of predicting and inferring as reading techniques to promote their comprehension. To carry out our study, two questionnaires were submitted to a sample of second year LMD students (80 students) and a group of teachers (12 teachers) at the Foreign Languages Department, Mentouri University Constantine, to confirm the following hypothesis “if second year LMD students of English employed strategies of predicting and inferring during reading, they would promote their reading comprehension skill”. The results obtained using the two means of research (the students‟ questionnaire, and the teachers‟ questionnaire) provided us with a clear idea about the students‟ use of their abilities of predicting and inferring while reading, and another obvious idea about the teachers‟ evaluation of the important role of the two strategies. So, we reached the conclusion that it is important for the students to put into practice their thinking faculties of anticipating, and deducing in reading to facilitate their understanding. In addition, teachers should train their students how to use predicting and inferring in reading for effective comprehension.
