important strategy to enhance their vocabulary knowledge. In this respect, extensive reading
can enlarge their repertoire of new foreign vocabulary items and the teacher is merely a
motivator because most EFL learners do not interested toward extensive reading which is tend
to be the most crucial technique in learning new vocabulary. To achieve such an aim, two
research tools are used, namely: the questionnaires and interview. First, two questionnaires
have been administered to both teachers and learners to elicit their opinions towards extensive
reading, the importance of vocabulary, and the impact of extensive reading in enriching
vocabulary knowledge. The Students’ questionnaire aims at finding out their attitudes towards
extensive reading, and to investigate their strategies of learning vocabulary Teachers’
questionnaire is meant for data collection about the strategies they use when teaching new
vocabulary. Teachers’ interview seeks to collect the necessary data about the main causes
behind students’ lack of interest toward extensive reading, and the major role they play in
motivating their students to read more. The results obtained reveal that students approve of
extensive reading as a potentially useful strategy that can promote their vocabulary learning.
This means that the results of this investigation go in the direction of the research’ assumption
which presumes that extensive reading helps in enhancing students’ vocabulary scope.
Accordingly, it is recommended that extensive reading should be implemented as a module
when designing courses in teaching vocabulary.Diplome : Master 2 Permalink : https://bu.umc.edu.dz/master/index.php?lvl=notice_display&id=12803 Enhancing Students’ Vocabulary Knowledge through Extensive Reading : Case study of third year LMD students at the depatment of English Language and literature at Mentouri University Constantine [texte imprimé] / Linda Belmehboul, Auteur ; Djamel Benkaza, Directeur de thèse . - CONSTANTINE [ALGERIE] : Université Frères Mentouri Constantine, 2018 . - 72 f. ; 30 cm.

students’ speaking skill. It also attempts to shed some light on the importance of the affective
side of the students in the process of learning a foreign language and how Cooperative
language learning could create a good and relaxed atmosphere. The hypothesis adopted in this
study is that CLL would create an affective learning environment, which in turn would help
students to enhance their speaking skill. In this work, we have relied on the questionnaire. The
results which have been obtained from the questionnaires were administered to second year
LMD students and to teachers of oral expression at the department of English, Mentouri
University of Constantine, showed that cooperative group work is a good technique because it
has positive effects on students’ affective side, and it gives them an opportunity to maximize
their oral production and to enhance it.Diplome : Master 2 Permalink : https://bu.umc.edu.dz/master/index.php?lvl=notice_display&id=3426 Improving students’ speaking skill through cooperative group work : The case of 2nd Year LMD students of english at contantine university [texte imprimé] / Djahida Fekraoui, Auteur ; Djamel Benkaza, Directeur de thèse . - CONSTANTINE [ALGERIE] : Université Frères Mentouri Constantine, 2011 . - 84 f. ; 30 cm.

Titre : Investigating students ability to recognize and understand humorous sarcasm used in sitcoms : The case of master one students of english at constantine 1 university Type de document : texte imprimé Auteurs : Rima Fettache, Auteur ; Hamza Azzouk, Auteur ; Djamel Benkaza, Directeur de thèse Editeur : CONSTANTINE [ALGERIE] : Université Frères Mentouri Constantine Année de publication : 2014 Importance : 65 f. Format : 30 cm. Note générale : Une copie électronique PDF disponible en BUC. Langues : Anglais (eng) Catégories : Lettres et Langues Etrangères:Langue Anglaise Tags : Applied Linguistics Students Ability Understand Humorous Index. décimale : 420 Langue anglaise Résumé : In recent years, an increasingly large body of research has examined the common situation in
which one thing is said in order to express another. Although research has examined the
understanding of figurative language such as metaphor, irony and humour in some depth,
sarcasm has been less studied. Understanding sarcasm requires considering social and cultural
factors, which are often ignored in models of language and it poses a challenge on L2
learners. This dissertation is intended to investigate how Algerian learners of English after
four years of intensive learning, interpret and understand sarcasm in spoken English.
Participants were asked to identify humour and sarcasm in a video clip taken from the U.S.
TV sitcom BIG BANG THOERY and to report what cues they attended to while processing
sarcasm. Analysis revealed that students who have good level in English and are more
exposed to it orally by other media are able to detect the sarcastic expression by means of
diverse techniques to grasp the meaning in addition to their previous knowledge to those
kinds of sitcoms. We noticed that the strategy most used is that relied on non-verbal
communication such as: gestures, body language intonation ….etc, in relation to context
meaning. Our participants suggested that social, cultural background and interaction with
native speakers may enhance learning of English sarcasm and understand it while it is used.
This study is an open area for more study to be done on it in the future and sarcasm is an
important figurative language to be taught to our studentsDiplome : Master 2 Permalink : https://bu.umc.edu.dz/master/index.php?lvl=notice_display&id=5885 Investigating students ability to recognize and understand humorous sarcasm used in sitcoms : The case of master one students of english at constantine 1 university [texte imprimé] / Rima Fettache, Auteur ; Hamza Azzouk, Auteur ; Djamel Benkaza, Directeur de thèse . - CONSTANTINE [ALGERIE] : Université Frères Mentouri Constantine, 2014 . - 65 f. ; 30 cm.
