modes of communication on the Internet, influencing language in terms of usage and
practice. Code-switching, the alternate use of more than one language in a discourse, is one
of the language phenomena where such changes can be traced. This research investigates the
occurrence of code-switching in computer-mediated communication (CMC) among Algerian
facebookers. The theoretical part of this research presents, in general, the different linguistic
phenomena which exist in Algeria, and code-switching, in particular. The practical part of
this research is composed of different recorded samples taken from Facebook, which permit,
in turn, to obtain results that help analyse the situation. The aim of the practical part is to find
out what types of code–switching occur in the facebookers` messages and comments as well
as the reasons why the Algerian Facebookers code switch. In the present dissertation, the
qualitative method is used. The data are collected through recording their messages and
comments from March to April, 2013 posted in the 10 users' profiles. The data have been
analysed and classified into the category of each type of code-switching. To analyze the
reasons why the Facebookers use code-switching in their messages and comments, Malik`s
theory has been adopted. The result of the study confirms the hypothesis which stipulates that
code switching does not only happen in verbal speech, but also in written communication,
especially on Facebook, and has concluded that Algerian facebookers code-switch because

profits of others. Thus, translation plays an essential role in conveying messages across
cultures in the world of business. The present study seeks to investigate the EFL students'
difficulties in translating business terms that may be ascribed to their unfamiliarity with
business terms and their ignorance of the necessity of adopting appropriate methods to
achieve a high quality translation. The data were gathered by means of questionnaire and a
written translation test, the analysis of the data confirms that students’ mistakes are the results
of their unfamiliarity with business language and its terminology and the inappropriate
methods used in translating such kind of texts. Based on the results found some pedagogical

In addition to this, it traces the challenges that confront them in its delivery and how they can overcome such challenges and speak and convey their thoughts, beliefs, attitudes, and values fluently and confidently in public. For this reason, the hypothesis of our study emphasizes that if the English language students applied the oratory techniques and revealed and worked on their weaknesses, they would be able to speak up in public without any difficulties. So, in order to achieve the objective of the study and check the validity of our hypothesis, a questionnaire composed of eleven different questions on the subject has been addressed to a group of third year LMD students of English at the University of Constantine. The results of our research have revealed that although the students applied the oratory techniques and they knew their weaknesses, they were still unable to speak fluently in front of the others because they did not work on these weaknesses. So, they have to train more by learning and using the effective strategies that can help them to overcome their challenges since the majority of them have admitted that they ignore about these strategies.
