students’ oral proficiency. This research focuses on classroom interaction’s two main types
which are teacher learner interaction and the interaction among the learners themselves as well
as the speaking skill. It is hypothesized that classroom interaction will improve and enhance the
student’s speaking ability and oral productivity. In order to check the validity of the stated
hypothesis three research tools are used: a classroom observation, a learner’s questionnaire, and
a teacher’s questionnaire. The first questionnaire is administered to twenty five first year
students of English at Frères Mentouri Constantine 1 University. The second questionnaire is
handed to eight teachers of Oral Expression at the department of English, Constantine 1
University. The main research tool consists of two weeks of classroom observation. Two groups
of first year learners of English have been observed for four sessions each. The findings of the
study reveal that classroom interaction can be an important device for improving the language
of the learners so that the student’s speaking productivity will be upgraded. As a result, it can
be said that the aforementioned hypothesis has been confirmed and that developing foreign

render Arabic proverbs into English and vice versa and the methods used to find the suitable
equivalent in the target language. The data of the study consists of twelve proverbs translated
by twenty First year Master students of English, at Mentouri university-Constantine. The aims
of this study are to examine the type of difficulty M1 students face while translating proverbs
and try to suggest solutions and identify strategies that may help to limit or avoid these
difficulties. In this respect, a test made up of six English proverbs and six Arabic ones is given
to M1 students to be translated. The results of the study show that there are potential problems
in the process of translating proverbs from English into Arabic and vice versa. Furthermore,
the findings show that the translation into the first language is more successful than into
foreign language. They also confirm our hypothesis and reveal that, except literal translation,

They constitute a pivotal issue in translation in view of its importance and frequency in language use. Using metaphors is common in the different types of Arabic texts especially the Holy Qur’an. This paper aims at investigating some of the problems that face English translators while translating metaphors from the Holy Qur’an. The core of this study is condensed in twelve metaphors chosen from Surat Al Kahf. Relying on the appropriate method of translating metaphors from the Holy Qur’an can be the key to a successful translation. Through analyzing each translation of the metaphors to define the method that is used in its translation (formal or dynamic), we suggest the appropriate methodology that can be followed while translating metaphors from the Holy Qur’an. The source reader and the target reader and their knowledge with the verses and the science of exegesis (tafsir) are among the main conditions that must be taken into consideration while translating metaphors from the Holy Qur’an. group because this creates inappropriate learning conditions. Such conditions may lead to noise,
lack and unequal opportunities for students to participate and talk, and teachers cannot achieve
their teaching objectives. So, the large class hinders the improvement of learners’ oral
performance.
