Speaking Skill Attitudes towards Blended Learning. |
Index. décimale : |

Résumé : |
Language teaching/learning is a large field which involves implementing various strategies
and approaches in order to achieve the learning objectives. Speaking as a language skill
requires students‟ and teachers‟ effort to be developed. Many factors affect Students‟ during
the speaking learning process. Therefore, using a beneficial and a resourceful strategy would
improve students‟ speaking skill. On that account, this study attempts to investigate students‟
and teachers‟ attitudes and standpoints towards the effectiveness of implementing the blended
education to develop students‟ speaking skill. This research is put forward under the
hypothesis that says if teachers considered blended learning as a beneficial approach, they
would use it to improve students‟ speaking skill. The questionnaire is the only used tool to
conduct this investigation. The researcher conducted two questionnaires; one was given to
five (05) Oral Expression teachers and another to twenty nine (29) 2nd year students at the
Department of Letters and the English Language at Fréres Mentouri University, Constantine.
The results of the analysis of the questionnaires do not confirm the hypothesis which says that
if teachers have positive standpoints towards blended learning they will use it in the
classroom. The majority of teachers do not use the blending education in their classes;
however, they clearly show that blended learning motivates students and facilitates the whole
language learning process which will eventually help students to improve their speaking skill. |

Language Studies Learning attitudes towards listening speaking |
Index. décimale : |

Résumé : |
Learning English as a foreign language is the ambition of a lot of people around the
world, with the intention of using it in their daily conversations. Researchers agree
that among the four skills of language, the speaking skill has a great importance. The
aim of this study is to investigate third year students’ attitudes towards listening to
English authentic materials and to check if it helps them to develop their oral
communicative abilities. We hypothesised that students who are used to listen
or who are more exposed to the act of listening, their speaking skills are said to be
enhanced. In order to check the validity of this hypothesis, we administered a
questionnaire and a test to third year students at the English Department-Mentouri
Brothers university. The findings reveal that the majority of them agree on the fact
that listening to English authentic materials does have a positive effect on their Oral
performance. |

Attitudes towards Self-Efficacy Speaking Skill. |
Index. décimale : |
420 Langue anglaise |
Résumé : |
The affective side of the learner seems to take a crucial part in the process of teaching and
learning a foreign or second language which teachers should take into consideration. The
present study aims at exploring the effect and the impact of self-efficacy on the speaking skill.
To be more specific, the main purpose of this research is to seek the relationship between the
effects of self-efficacy of learners in English language classrooms in enhancing their speaking
fluency. Therefore, it is hypothesized that the more students are self-efficacious, the better
their speaking skill will be. This study is conducted on a sample of thirty five (35) students
who are asked to answer a questionnaire and a scale embedded together to be answered by the
same student. Besides, oral expression teachers are administered one questionnaire as well.
The questionnaires and the scale aim at probing the relationship between self-efficacy and
speaking ability. The findings show that students are aware of their sense of efficacy and its
role in developing their speaking fluency, and teachers consider self-efficacy as a beneficial
source for students to enhance their speaking ability. The results confirm what is hypothesized
above that self-efficacy impact develops EFL learners speaking production. |

Attitudes towards Teaching Culture to Increase Students’
Motivation. |
Index. décimale : |

Résumé : |
The process of learning English as foreign language requires developing the learners’ skills.
The aim of this process is to make students communicate efficiently in the target language. In
a way or another culture has become a part of language classroom. Therefore, culture teaching
has proved its major role as it helps learners to communicate effectively and appropriately.
Teaching culture entails specific and helpful strategies and activities to encourage the students
to learn the target culture. Hence, the aim of the present study is to shed light on teachers’ and
students attitudes towards using innovative techniques in teaching culture and increasing
students’ motivation. Therefore, it is hypothesized that if teachers hold positive attitudes
towards the use of innovative techniques in teaching culture, they would use them to increase
students’ motivation to learn the target culture. For this, the researcher conducted two
questionnaires; one was given to a sample of 05 teachers of Culture and another to 15 Master
one students at the Department of Letters and the English Language, Des Frères Mentouri
University, Constantine. The results of the analysis of the questionnaires reveal that the
majority of teachers and students hold positive attitudes towards using innovative techniques
in teaching culture which would increase students’ motivation and which helps develop their
cultural awareness and enhances the their intercultural communicative competence as well as
creating enjoyable atmosphere among teachers and learners. The findings also uncover that
teachers use innovative techniques to teach culture which confirms our hypothesis. |

Attitudes towards Learning on developing Developing critical thinking skills. |
Index. décimale : |
420 Langue anglaise |
Résumé : |
Developing critical thinking skills is not an easy task for both teachers as well for students
and it has been a problem set years ago. For this reason, the use of helpful strategy is needed
to enhance students’ critical thinking skills. Hence, the aim of this study is to investigate
teachers’ attitudes towards the effectiveness of inquiry based learning in enhancing students’
critical thinking skills. Through this investigation, the researcher also attempts to uncover
whether or not teachers use inquiry-based learning to teach critical thinking skills to their
learners. Therefore, it is hypothesized that if teachers hold positive attitudes towards Inquirybased learning, they will use it to enhance students’ critical thinking skills. To fulfill the
objective, the researcher opted for quantitative research design using a questionnaire as a tool
to collect data. This questionnaire was sent to a randomly selected sample of eleven (11)
teachers from the target population of third year teachers at the English Department, Frères
Mentouri University, Constantine. The results obtained uncover that third year teachers hold
positive attitudes towards the use of inquiry-based learning to enhance students’ critical
thinking, and that the majority of them use this strategy inside the classroom to enhance their
students’ critical thinking, which means that the hypothesis is confirmed. |
