Index. décimale : 420 Langue anglaise Résumé : The present study aims to investigate the influence of the Arabic mother language on English
foreign learners in the writing skill. Most of EFL learners think in Arabic when they use
English that is why their English sounds like Arabic. Since writing in a foreign language is the
students’ aim in EFL classrooms, the importance is given to eliminating the problem of
Arabic interference in writing English as a foreign language. Therefore, we hypothesised that
if Master one learners at Mentouri Brothers University of Constantine have better capacities
and their level is good in the foreign language, this will reduce the interference of their mother
tongue that they generally exhibit. Throughout this study, we want to investigate how far does
the native language has effect the learners’ writing achievement on EFL in Constantine
University and thereby propose solutions to this phenomenon. To accomplish this study, we
designed a questionnaire and a test which were administered to Master one English students at
Constantine University. After the analysis of the data collected and the results obtained from
the questionnaire, we arrived to confirm the hypothesis of this research and we tried to put
forward some pedagogical recommendations, as how to find appropriate remedies that would
eventually help learners cope with the interference of their native language while using the

their abilities and smoothness. The current research attempts to investigate the connection
between the first language and learners' pronunciation of English. The researcher is keen on
discovering whether the first language (Arabic) impacts the learners' pronunciation of English
and how. It is hypothesized that the differences between the first language and the second or
foreign language are the reasons behind the challenges which learners of English face. We
hypothesize that Arabic influences the learners' level of English pronunciation. The researcher
assembled data through questionnaires of a sample of 33 first year students of English and a
recoding test for 15 first year students of English at Frères Mentouri Constantine 1 university.
The results of the questionnaire and the recording test show that students of English fail in
many aspect of the second language including acoustics, phonetics and the phonological level
and hence our hypothesis is confirmed. Based on the obtained results, some recommendations
are suggested.Diplome : Master 2 Permalink : https://bu.umc.edu.dz/master/index.php?lvl=notice_display&id=15331 The Influence of Arabic as a Mother Tongue on Learners' Pronunciation of English: The Case Study of First Year Students of English at Frères Mentouri Constantine 1 University [texte imprimé] / Oussama Boufenghour, Auteur ; Naima Eutamene, Directeur de thèse . - CONSTANTINE [ALGERIE] : Université Frères Mentouri Constantine, 2021 . - 50 f. ; 30 cm.

Langues : Anglais (eng) Catégories : Lettres et Langues Etrangères:Langue Anglaise Tags : Language Sciences prepositions Mother Tongue Index. décimale : 420 Langue anglaise Résumé : This research work aims at describing and analyzing the students‟ use of English prepositions with a particular reference to “in”, “on”, “at”. It attempts to identify whether Algerian students face difficulties in using English prepositions, and to what extent Standard Arabic affects their usage. This dissertation is based on the assumption that Algerian students make negative transfer from Standard Arabic when they use English prepositions. For this purpose, a test is given to first- year students at the University of Constantine. The analysis of the test has shown that students made a negative transfer from Standard Arabic when using the prepositions “in”, “on”, “at”. So, the identification of students‟ errors and their sources will help to draw teachers‟ attention to the phenomenon of negative language transfer in order to provide learners with the necessary knowledge of the prepositional usage in English. Format : 30 cm. Note générale : Une copie electronique PDF disponible au BUC. Langues : Anglais (eng) Catégories : Lettres et Langues Etrangères:Langue Anglaise Tags : Oral Expression Mother Tongue Communicative Competence. Index. décimale : 420 Langue anglaise Résumé : Speaking is the vital mean of communication, and it is the main goal for learners to
reach. This current study aims to investigate both teachers‟ and learners‟ perceptions
towards the effect of glossophobia on third year students‟ speaking performance at the
Department of Letters and the English Language, University “Frère Mentouri” ,
Constantine 1. Thus, if EFL learners want to be competent in speaking, therefore they
need first to overcome glossophobia, i.e. the fear of public speaking. To reach this
goal, an exploratory research design was adopted. Two questionnaires were the
instrument of research, as a quantitative data collection tool; the first one was
administered online to ten (10) teachers of the Oral Expression module, and the
second questionnaire was given to fifty (50) third year students. The aim behind using
the questionnaire is to know the teachers‟ and students‟ attitudes and points of view
towards the impact of glossophobia on the learners‟ speech performance. The results
obtained have shown that glossophobia has negative effects on improving the
students‟ speaking skill. The study affirmed that the majority of learners are anxious
toward presenting a speech in front of peers and teachers, which inhibit their selfconfidence. From another perspective, teachers agreed that glossophobia affects
negatively the performance of the learners. Moreover, the results show that teachers
and students have different strategies to help in overcoming the issue of glossophobia.
Public speaking anxiety could be cured effectively; the EFL learners could overcome
this phobia, hence, improve their speaking ability which enables them to evolve in
their learning process.Diplome : Master 2 Permalink : https://bu.umc.edu.dz/master/index.php?lvl=notice_display&id=15349 INVESTIGATING THE EFFECTS OF GLOSSOPHOBIA ON ENGLISH AS A FOREIGN LANGUAGE STUDENTS’ SPEAKING SKILL The Case of Third Year Students at the University “Frères Mentouri”, Constantine 1 [texte imprimé] / Soundous Kerrache, Auteur ; Linda Dakhmouche, Directeur de thèse . - CONSTANTINE [ALGERIE] : Université Frères Mentouri Constantine, 2021 . - 119 f. ; 30 cm.
