Thus, our main interest is describing and analysing what the listening skills involve and showing how advanced techniques can be used as a listening input in order to develop students’ listening comprehension. To check whether there is a strong relationship between using advanced techniques and listening comprehension, we hypothesised that the more students are exposed to a more advanced techniques, the more they will develop their listening comprehension. Furthermore, this study is intended to investigate two variables: advanced techniques as the independent variable and its’ role in enhancing the listening comprehension as the dependent variable. For the data collection a t-test as well as students’ questionnaire seem to be the most appropriate tools. The test and the questionnaire will be administered to third year LMD students at the department of English, university mentouri Constantine science and language option. It is specifically designed to investigate the case of first year EFL students at Constantine 1 University. It is an attempt to see whether the use of the three listening strategies i.e. the meta-cognitive, cognitive and socio-affective listening strategies may affect the students’ listening comprehension either positively or negatively. In other words, do these strategies impede or enhance their comprehension? The research tries then to analyze the impact of strategy use on the students’ listening comprehension, and check out the allegation that says students who use more strategies understand better when they listen to pedagogical listening materials.
