anxiety and its effects on reading comprehension in a foreign language. Through our
hypothesis, we attempted to investigate whether this anxiety influences reading
comprehension negatively. The population sample of the study is 38 third year LMD students
at the Department of Foreign Languages, Mentouri University of Constantine, Algeria.
To achieve this goal, we have collected data using multiple instruments, such as Saito,
Garza and Horwitz (1999) Foreign Language Reading Anxiety Scale (FLRAS), in order to
investigate the anxiety levels that students face when they read in English. In addition, a
reading comprehension test was achieved in order to show whether reading anxiety influences
the students’ level in understanding English texts.
The results show that Foreign Language Reading Anxiety (FLRA) exists among the
majority of the participants and there is a significant negative correlation between Foreign
Language (FL) anxiety and reading comprehension. As such, the hypothesis is confirmed:
higher levels of anxiety in the students affect negatively their performance in the reading
comprehension of texts in EnglishDiplome : Master 2 Permalink : https://bu.umc.edu.dz/master/index.php?lvl=notice_display&id=6760 The influence of reading anxiety on reading comprehension among efl learners : The case of third year lmd students, constantine 1 university [texte imprimé] / Madjda Taik, Auteur ; Khadidja Benzaid, Auteur ; Achouak Bader, Directeur de thèse . - CONSTANTINE [ALGERIE] : Université Frères Mentouri Constantine, 2013 . - 80 f. ; 30 cm.

Titre : The influence of advanced techniques on students’ listening comprehension Type de document : texte imprimé Auteurs : Nadia Saoudi, Auteur ; Larbi El-kolli, Directeur de thèse Editeur : CONSTANTINE [ALGERIE] : Université Frères Mentouri Constantine Année de publication : 2012 Importance : 59 f. Format : 30 cm. Note générale : Une copie électronique PDF disponible en BUC. Langues : Anglais (eng) Catégories : Lettres et Langues Etrangères:Langue Anglaise Tags : Language Sciences Influence Techniques Students’ Listening Index. décimale : 420 Langue anglaise Résumé : T he purpose of this study is to have some insights about the students’ awareness
toward the use of some sorts of listening techniques and materials in the language
classroom to enhance their listening comprehension. Thus, our main interest is
describing and analysing what the listening skills involve and showing how advanced
techniques can be used as a listening input in order to develop students’ listening
comprehension. To check whether there is a strong relationship between using advanced
techniques and listening comprehension, we hypothesised that the more students are
exposed to a more advanced techniques, the more they will develop their listening
comprehension. Furthermore, this study is intended to investigate two variables:
advanced techniques as the independent variable and its’ role in enhancing the listening
comprehension as the dependent variable. For the data collection a t-test as well as
students’ questionnaire seem to be the most appropriate tools. The test and the
questionnaire will be administered to third year LMD students at the department of
English, university mentouri Constantine science and language option. The results
obtained are in the direction of our hypothesis which means basically that the students
need these techniques for a better listening comprehensionDiplome : Master 2 Permalink : https://bu.umc.edu.dz/master/index.php?lvl=notice_display&id=6491 The influence of advanced techniques on students’ listening comprehension [texte imprimé] / Nadia Saoudi, Auteur ; Larbi El-kolli, Directeur de thèse . - CONSTANTINE [ALGERIE] : Université Frères Mentouri Constantine, 2012 . - 59 f. ; 30 cm.

Langues : Anglais (eng) Catégories : Lettres et Langues Etrangères:Langue Anglaise Tags : Applied Language Studies Influence Background Knowledge Index. décimale : 420 Langue anglaise Résumé : The present study aims at investigating whether Algerian students at the department of
Foreign Languages, Mentouri University, Constantine, who come from scientific
backgrounds, are able to produce better scientific translations from English into Arabic than
students belonging to non-scientific backgrounds. In order to achieve that, two means of a
research tool were administered. The data in this study have been collected from a
questionnaire and a test. A sample of thirty students is chosen randomly to answer the
questionnaire and the test as well. The test involves seventeen scientific sentences in English
with different levels of difficulty. However, the questionnaire contains fourteen questions.
After the analysis of the results, it has brought out that the majority of scientific students have
succeeded in finding appropriate equivalents for most of the scientific terms. The other kind
of students faces serious difficulties in scientific translations. The research results confirm our
hypothesis which states that students coming from science disciplines translate scientific texts
more effectively than students coming from non-scientific ones.Diplome : Master 2 Permalink : https://bu.umc.edu.dz/master/index.php?lvl=notice_display&id=6556 The influence of background knowledge on english- arabic translation of scientific texts : A case study of second year students at mentouri university- constantine [texte imprimé] / Nasreddine Boutaghane, Auteur ; Samah Toumiat, Auteur ; Achouak Bader, Directeur de thèse . - CONSTANTINE [ALGERIE] : Université Frères Mentouri Constantine, 2012 . - 60 f. ; 30 cm.

Titre : The Influence of english as a foreign language on Arab Learners' way of thinking Type de document : texte imprimé Auteurs : Zineb DENAIB, Auteur ; Rawiya BITAT, Auteur ; Riad Belouahem, Directeur de thèse Editeur : CONSTANTINE [ALGERIE] : Université Frères Mentouri Constantine Année de publication : 2011 Importance : 77 f. Format : 30 cm. Note générale : Une copie électronique PDF disponible en Bus Langues : Français (fre) Catégories : Lettres et Langues Etrangères:Langue Anglaise Tags : Applied Linguistics Influence English Foreign Language Arab Learners Index. décimale : 420 Langue anglaise Résumé : During the last decades, the world has witnessed an incredibly rapid evolution especially in the field of communication and technology; hence, it becomes a small village. This situation raises the importance of learning foreign languages; people now need more than one language to communicate and practice their daily lives. English as the language of access to science and technology attracted a huge number of foreign learners all over the world. In the light of this, the present research revolves around learning English as a foreign language. However, learning a language goes always side by side with the learning of other human aspects such as thought and culture. Here, it is worth mentioning that the learning of these aspects may influence the learners’ way of thinking in terms of some abstract notions. This idea is restated and set as the hypothesis of this research as it deals with the influence of English as a foreign language on Arab learners’ way of thinking. In other words, if Arab learners of English learn its culture, then, they are more likely to build a new way of thinking, by altering or adjusting their first culture in terms of the abstract notions that are manifested in their behavior and major decisions. The nature of the subject stresses the need for a practical part to check the validity of the established hypothesis through the use of a questionnaire. The results obtained reveal that the influence of English on Arab learners is relative; they adjust their way of thinking to cope with the newly acquired culture in some respects, and keep it as it is in others.
