Résumé : |
One of the students’ main problems lies in their incapacity to carry on an integrated,
smooth communication inside the classroom. The current dissertation examines the effect of
classroom interaction in enhancing third year students of English communicative competence,
through teachers and students attitudes’. Therefore, we hypothesize that if teachers hold
positive attitudes towards classroom interaction, they would use it to enhance the students’
communicative competence. This study is based on two questionnaires distributed to both
Oral Expression teachers (10 teachers) and third year students (30 students) selected randomly
from different groups, at the department of English University Frères Mentouri Constantine 1,
to collect relevant data about the role of classroom interaction in promoting learners
communicative competence. The results of the study reveal that most of teachers and students
have positive attitudes toward using classroom interaction as significant strategy for boosting
student’s communicative competence, also teachers should have good relationship with their
students so they can feel comfortable to reduce their anxiety and involve them with different
tasks and interactive activities. Furthermore, the majority of learners believe that they need to
use the target language with teachers and with each other in order to build an effective
communication. These results bear out the research hypothesis. |

Oral Expression Classroom Interaction Communicative Language Teaching. |
Index. décimale : |

Résumé : |
The present study aims to investigate teachers’ and students’ attitudes towards the
effect of classroom interaction on enhancing learners’ pronunciation. It also aims to
explore the effect of the Covid-19 pandemic on the learners’ speaking skill, in
general, and pronunciation, in particular. It is hypothesized that if the students were
completely committed to the classroom interactive environment, then their
pronunciation would improve. To achieve the already mentioned aims and to test the
validity of the hypothesis, two questionnaires have been administered to both forty
(40) First-year students and ten (10) teachers of Oral Expression at the University
Frères Mentouri Constantine 1. The analysis of the data obtained from both
questionnaires have shown that both teachers and students believe that through
constant interaction inside the classroom the pronunciation level of students would
develop. The analysis has also displayed that the pandemic Covid-19 has negatively
affected the development of learners’ pronunciation. Therefore, the already stated
hypothesis has been confirmed. Oral expression teachers have to encourage
interaction inside the classroom and they have to rely on authentic materials that
would positively enhance students’ pronunciation and boost up their communicative
competence. The University environment should be a safe place for both teachers and
students to carry out the teaching and learning process to the fullest extent. |

Classroom Interaction Developing Learners’ Speaking Skill |
Index. décimale : |
420 Langue anglaise |
Résumé : |
Since the old approaches and methods focus on the language form and since many learners need to experience real communication in real communication situations that give them opportunities to speak and express their own views and opinions. New approaches emerge as the Cooperative Language Learning and the Communicative Language Teaching that call for the importance of communication in a foreign language learning. Speaking is said to be the desired skill for learners to master and the hardest one for teachers to teach. For that reason, it requires a considerable interest from both teachers and learners. Classroom interaction is then one of the most important pedagogical strategies and a useful method to maximize and enhance the learners‟ speaking skill. So, teaching speaking involves from the teacher to creates an interactive environment in the classroom and knows that acquiring the speaking skill comes only from practice and exposure to the target language. We hypothesized that if teachers create an interactive environment in the classroom, first year students‟ speaking skill will be developed. The work is based on a test designed to first year students and a questionnaire to Oral Expression teachers to get information about the impact of classroom interaction on fostering the learners‟ speaking skill. The results have shown that classroom interaction is the key for increasing the learners‟ language use. The hypothesis was to some extent confirmed in that students need to experience the language inside the classroom which involves from the teacher to provides adequate techniques and creates the suitable situations especially classroom interaction to help learners develop their speaking skill. |

Classroom interaction EFL LMD students speaking skill |
Index. décimale : |
420 Langue anglaise |
Résumé : |
Classroom interaction is a major vehicle in foreign language learning because the way
students learn a language has a lot to do with the way they interact inside the classroom. The
majority of the English as Foreign Language (EFL) learners are unable to use the foreign
language in communication. This study aims at presenting the role of classroom interaction in
developing EFL learners’ speaking skill. The hypothesis adopted in this study is that use
interaction in classroom might help and encourage students to develop their speaking ability
and reduce their difficulties in speaking English as a foreign language. Through a quantitative
study design, the required data was gathered from students’ questionnaire which was
administered to third year LMD students at the department of English in “Brothers Mentouri”
University Constantine-1- during the academic year 2019-2020. After the analysis of data, the
research findings revealed that the relationship between classroom interaction and mastering
the speaking skill with the focus on the classroom techniques and methods might be beneficial
in foreign language classes. |

Résumé : |
This dissertation attempts to identify the role of classroom interaction in developing students’
speaking skill. The problem is that learners’ speaking ability is not good. This problem may
be due to the methods and techniques followed by the teachers of English in teaching the
speaking skill. Those methods and techniques do not lead learners to learn how to
communicate. For this reason, we suggest classroom interaction which we hope will help
learners to learn how to communicate and how to develop the speaking skill. In this research,
we use two questionnaires. One is handed to 10 teachers who have been teaching for some
years oral expression. The second one is handed to the third year students in the department of
English at Constantine 1 University. The results of this questionnaire show that the classroom
interaction is an important technique in developing the speaking skill. The students’
questionnaire is used in order to see the effectiveness of classroom interaction in learning the
speaking skill. The results of the questionnaire demonstrate that classroom interaction helped
third-year university students to learn the speaking skill |
