spelling errors and confusion in the English spelling. It aimed at investigating the
main areas and reasons behind confusion in the English orthography. It is
hypothesized that if learners were aware of spelling rules, strategies, and the
difference between spelling and pronunciation, they would not make spelling errors.
To collect data, two means of research were used; the first one is a questionnaire
handed out to four teacher of written expression subject, whereas, the second one is
a test administrated to sixty-seven (forty per cent) students. The obtained results
revealed that confusion in the English orthography could be the result of many
reasons which are learners’ lack of knowledge about spelling rules and their
exceptions, and strategies, the difference between spelling and pronunciation,
transfer from other languages, and the overgeneralization of some spelling rules. The
present study showed that spelling is an important skill in writing and, therefore,
written expression teachers’ should provide their students with the most important
spelling rules and strategies whenever it is needed.Diplome : Master 2 Permalink : https://bu.umc.edu.dz/master/index.php?lvl=notice_display&id=4014 Spelling errors and confusion in the english orthography : A case study of third year L.M.D students at Larbi Ben M-hidi University, Oum El Bouaghi [texte imprimé] / Amira Melouhi, Auteur ; Samir Laraba, Directeur de thèse . - CONSTANTINE [ALGERIE] : Université Frères Mentouri Constantine, 2013 . - 98 f. ; 30 cm.

Titre : The causes of students’ spelling errors : The case of second-year students, university of constantine Type de document : texte imprimé Auteurs : Chahira Barki, Auteur ; Karima Medjmedj, Auteur ; Chouaf Chahrazed, Directeur de thèse Editeur : CONSTANTINE [ALGERIE] : Université Frères Mentouri Constantine Année de publication : 2012 Importance : 54 f. Format : 30 cm. Note générale : Une copie électronique PDF disponible en BUC. Langues : Anglais (eng) Catégories : Lettres et Langues Etrangères:Langue Anglaise Tags : Applied Language Studies Causes Students’ Spelling Errors Index. décimale : 420 Langue anglaise Résumé : The present research work aims at exploring the problem of misspelling among the learners
of English, especially as a foreign language. To achieve this purpose, we conducted this study
at Mentouri University in Constantine. It is mainly intended to determine the several sources
of confusion in the spelling of English and to shed light on the most problematic areas
therein. Interest in this subject matter stems from the importance of developing the students’
spelling skills in order to grow into good writers and hence good language users. We
hypothesized that if second-year English students are aware of the spelling rules and
strategies, then they would make less spelling mistakes. For checking the validity of this
hypothesis, a test was carried out. It consisted of twenty simple sentences containing two
spelling propositions each; the participants had to choose the right one. On the whole, the
analysis of the data has revealed that the students face problems because they are unaware of
the basic spelling rules and strategies, they do not put into practice those rules they know,
they overlook words’ constituent parts (i.e. prefixes, stems and suffixes), but also because the
English spelling is very complex. These findings came to confirm the hypothesis established
at the outset of this studyDiplome : Master 2 Permalink : https://bu.umc.edu.dz/master/index.php?lvl=notice_display&id=5856 The causes of students’ spelling errors : The case of second-year students, university of constantine [texte imprimé] / Chahira Barki, Auteur ; Karima Medjmedj, Auteur ; Chouaf Chahrazed, Directeur de thèse . - CONSTANTINE [ALGERIE] : Université Frères Mentouri Constantine, 2012 . - 54 f. ; 30 cm.

Error correction corrective feedback feedback speaking skills errors uptake. Index. décimale : 420 Langue anglaise Résumé : The aim of this dissertation is to demonstrate in a closer picture the problem that most EFL
students at frères Mentouri University, Constantine are facing when they speak. It is designed
to focus on exploring the role of teacher’s error correction and the significance of conducting
it carefully in EFL classrooms. It also targets at developing teachersand students’ awareness
about the role of error correction inside the classroom by exploring how teachers’ correction
procedures can encourage students to perform better and enhance their spoken performance.
Our study is a descriptive one; it relies on quantitative research method. In order to
investigate the validity of our hypothesis "teacher’s error correction does affect student’s
spoken performance", we distributed two questionnaires; one for second year EFL students
and the other one for teachers of oral expression at frères Mentouri, university of Constantine.
The results obtained from these questionnaires revealed the importance of speaking skill to
teachers and students who agreed that students’ spoken errors should be treated. It shows that
both teachers and students acknowledged the role of error correction in promoting students’
spoken performance because it helps them to realize where their deficiency is. The results also
show that teachers and students hold different opinions about timing, methods of error
correction as well as types of errors that need to be corrected. Finally, we deduce that most
students recognize and prefer teacher’s correction because it is more reliable since the teacher
is the guide and s/he is more proficient about errors and their correctionDiplome : Master 2 Permalink : https://bu.umc.edu.dz/master/index.php?lvl=notice_display&id=6900 The role of teacher's corrective feedback in enhancing efl students' spoken performance : Case study of the second year english students at u.m.c [texte imprimé] / Mouna Benbekhma, Auteur ; Malika Hammami, Auteur ; Sabrine Mertani, Directeur de thèse . - CONSTANTINE [ALGERIE] : Université Frères Mentouri Constantine, 2017 . - 92 f. ; 30 cm.
