Biologie Résumé : The present study aims to investigate the protective and antioxidant effects of n-butanol extracts of H. confertum and H. ruficomum plants in experimental rats. The n-butanol extract of those plants was evaluated in Wistar Albinos rats for its protective potentials against doxorubicin induced acute toxicity. The effect of n-butanol extracts of H. confertum and H. ruficomum at a dose of (50mg/kg and 100mg/kg) was studied on DOX-induced hepatic, kidney and heart damage. One dose of doxorubicin (10mg/kg and 15mg/kg) was injected intraperitoneal in Wistar Albinos rats. Serum transaminases, cholesterol, triglycerides, LDH, urea, creatinine, lipid peroxidation (MDA), reduced glutathione (GSH), glutathione peroxidase (GPx) and catalase were estimated to access liver, kidney and heart damage. It was found that combined H.
confertum and H. ruficomum (50 and 100mg/kg) extract and DOX (10 and15mg/kg) treatment decreased significantly TBARS level and biochemical parameters. In contract increased reduced glutathione, glutathione peroxidase, and catalase activities compared to the DOX-group. Results of in vivo experiments showed that the n-butanol extracts of H. confertum and H. ruficomum inhibited lipid peroxidation, protected the experimental animals from hepatic and kidney toxicity
and maintained the levels of antioxidants enzymes. The protective effect of vitamin E was also studied against doxorubicin-induced acute toxicity at (15mg/kg), and it was found that combined vitamin E (100mg/kg) and DOX (15mg/kg) treatment decreased significantly TBARS level and increased antioxidants activities.
Also, histological study was determined in pretreatment with n-butanol extract of H. confertum and doxorubicin induced acute toxicity at (10mg/kg), and it was found that combined H. confertum n-butanol extract at (50 and 100mg/kg) decreased necrotic cells in hepatic tissue. The antioxidant in vitro tests (DPPH scavenging, inhibition of LPO and anti-cancer activity) of n-butanol extracts of H. confertum and H. ruficomum indicated that different function as free radical scavengers, such activities are more strongly correlated with the levels of flavonoids and total phenols. - 122 f. ; 30 cm.

Biologie Résumé :
This study aims to investigate the possible protective effects of n-BuOH extract of Centaurea maroccana Ball aerial parts against CP-induced neurotoxicity in male Wistar albino’s mice. The potential neuroprotective properties of BECM were studied in vitro and in in vivo model. The in vitro study revealed that n-butanolic extract of Centaurea maroccana possessed a strong antioxidant activity by using different assays, namely DPPH•, ABTS•+, DMSO alkalin, Reducing power, β-carotene-linoleic acid and CUPRAC. Also it has demonstrated a high anti-proliferative activity against C6 (Rattus norvegicus brain glioma) and HT29 (Homo sapiens colorectal adenocarcinoma) by the decreases viability of both cancer cell lines. Furthermore, BECM exhibited neuroprotective properties, by the inhibition of acetylcholinesterase (AChE) level and lipid peroxidation (LPO) depending on the concentration in the brain tissue. On the other hand, the in vivo study revealed that the administration of a single dose of PC (8 mg/kg; bw) induced a marked brain damage manifested by a significant increases of both AChE and LDH activities. Also oxidative stress was evident in CP-group by the elevation in lipid peroxidation level (MDA), and the decrease in total antioxidant capacity (TAC), as well as a marked decrease in activity of catalase (CAT), superoxide dismutase (SOD), and the glutathione metabolizing enzyme ( glutathione peroxidase “GPx”, glutathione S-transferase “GST”) and GSH level in brain mitochondrial and cytosolic fractions. Moreover, the brain oxidative stress was associated with multifocal histological changes in cerebral cortex. While, the pretreatment of mice with BECM (200 mg/kg; bw) for 10 days significantly improved the alterations induced by CP in all the parameters mentioned previously with better recovery in the brain tissue. Interestingly, the BECM achieved neuroprotection comparable to vitamin E (100 mg/kg; bw) in most of the evaluated parameters. Thus, it appears that the n-butanolic extract of Centaurea maroccana provides a protective potency against CP-induced neurotoxicity which seems to be linked to its richness in polyphenols confirmed by LC-MS analysis.

peroxidation plant extract phenolic compounds التوتر التأكسدي الفعل المضاد للأكسدة المستخلص النباتي المركبات الفينولية الأكسدة الفوقية للدهونIndex. décimale : 570 Sciences de la vie. Biologie Résumé : This work is devoted to study the protective effect of n-butanol extract of Centaurea sphaerocephala (c. sphaerocephala) against the impact toxic of valproic acid (VPA) associated with oxidative stress on different tissues in male Wistar albino’s rats. For that, n-Butanol extract of C. sphaerocephala (50mg/kg and 100mg/kg) and VPA (300mg/kg) were administered by gavage for 14days. At the end of the experiment or in the 15th day, animals were scarified, dissected and different organs (liver, kidney, brain and testicular) were removed, homogenized and used for determination of lipid peroxidation and antioxidant enzymes (catalase (CAT), glutathione peroxidase (GPx) and the level of reduced glutathione (GSH)). A small species of these organs were used for histopathological examination.
The dysfunction caused by the VPA is expressed by a significant increase of lipid peroxidation reported by a determination of the level of tissues MDA and a significant decrease in GSH level and activity of enzymes antioxidant enzymes activities (catalase and GPx). This accompanied by a changes in biochemical parameters characterized especially by an increase in the concentration of creatinine, blood sugar, cholesterol levels, triglycerides and Aminotransferase (AST, ALT) which are released once that liver cells damaged and their membrane perforated.
As well, the histological’ results showed clear alterations in the histoarchitecture of the different tissues studied: liver, kidney and testicular.
Indeed, the pretreatment of rats by n-butanolic extract of C. sphaerocephala (50mg/kg, 100mg/kg) and Vit E (100mg/kg) restored the biochemical parameters to their normal values and also improved the antioxidant parameters as well as the histological appearance of the different tissues studied.
n-butanol extract of this plant has a protective effect action against the oxidative stress resulting from the treatment of rats by the VPA due to its antioxidant effect.
The in vitro Antioxidant tests (scavenging the radical DPPH, inhibition of LPO,) of the extracts the different phases (ethyl acetate and n-butanol) of C. Sphaerocephala indicated that various extracts have the role of free radical’s scavengers. In addition, these activities are strongly correlated with the levels of flavonoids and total phenols which are relatively high.
The anticancer test was carried out using (HeLa) cell line by analyzing the different doses of the n-butanol extract of C. sphaerocephala plant. The results indicate that the extract has an anti-cancer effect concentrations dependent.

The n-butanol extract of this plant was evaluated in Wistar Albinos rats for anti-inflammatory activity using carrageenan-induced hind paw edema model. Diabetes was induced by streptozotocin (55mg/kg, IV), the butanol extract (200 mg / kg) is administered orally for 6 days before induction of diabetes and 18 days after, the glibenclamide was administed orally at the dose (5 mg / kg) for 18 days. Diabetes was associated with significant increase of: glucose, cholesterol, triglycerides, creatinine, MDA in liver, kidney and pancreas, and decrease in antioxidant enzyme defense system, and induce increased serum transminases. n-butanol extract of Genista quadriflora and glibenclamide significantly decreased the levels of AST, ALT, TBARS, glucose, cholesterol, triglycerides, creatinine and also GSH, significantly elevated the activities of CAT and GPx in liver, kidney and pancreas. Histopathological observations also correlated with the biochemical parameters. Thus, the data indicate that treatment with buthanol extracts of Genista quadriflora offers protection against free radical-mediated oxidative stress in organs of animals with experimental diabetes. Oral treatment with n- butanol extract of Genista quadriflora elicited an inhibitory activity on the development of the paw edema induced by carrageen. This extract showed a significant reduction in the paw edema volume in a dose-dependent.
Excessive ethanol intake induces severe tissue damage particularly in the liver through the generation of reactive oxygen species. This study was designed to examine the effect of n-butanol extract of Genista quadriflora for its protective potentials against ethanol induced toxicity. The effect of n-butanol extract of Genista quadriflora at a dose of 200 mg/kg and 100 mg/kg was studied on ethanol induced hepatic damage (40% v/v, 3 g/kg per oral every 12 hours for 3 doses) in Wistar Albinos rats. Serum transaminases, cholesterol, triglycerides, lipid peroxidation (MDA), reduced glutathione (GSH), glutathione peroxidase (GPx) and catalase were estimated to access liver and kidney damage. A histological study was determined.
It was found that combined Genista quadriflora (200mg/kg) extract and ethanol treatment decreased significantly TBARS level and increased reduced glutathione, glutathione peroxidase, and catalase activities compared to the ethanol group. Results of in vivo experiments showed that the n-butanol extract of Genista quadriflora inhibited lipid peroxidation, protected the experimental animals from hepatic and kidney toxicity and maintained the levels of antioxidants enzymes.

This work is part of the spectroscopic and structural characterization by X-ray diffraction as well as the study of the magnetic and biological properties of new 3d and 4d transition metal complexes supported by two tridentate Schiff bases derived from the 3- amino-4-hydroxy benzoic acid, the two ligands are obtained by the reaction of 3-amino-4- hydroxy benzoic acid with either acetylacetone (H3L1) or salicylaldehyde (H3L2). In order to study the effect of the architecture of the two ligands and more precisely the influence of the three hydroxyl, amino and carbonyl groups on the mode of coordination, on the supramolecular stacking and on the biological properties, several ways have been explored and led to some interesting results. The ligands and their complexes have been the subject of detailed structural study. The study of the biological properties revealed that the ligands and their complexes showed interesting antioxidant properties comparable and even better to those of the standards. The study of the magnetic properties on the copper coordination polymer revealed that it exhibits alternating ferromagnetic and antiferromagnetic interactions with the coupling constants: J1 = -0.22 (Cu1… Cu2); J2 = 11.2 (1) cm-1 (Cu1… Cu1), g = 2.29.
