It also identifies the problems students encounter in listening. Among the solutions that we think could counteract the negative effects of this problem, teachers’ awareness about the crucial effect of intensive listening, particularly the use of authentic listening materials in the classroom is uppermost in our mind. In our hypothesis, we assumed that students were not exposed to authentic listening materials enough and would, therefore, find problems of comprehension anytime they were exposed to them and they would not Improve their pronunciation. To confirm this hypothesis, we administered a questionnaire and a test to second year students at the department of English, University of Constantine. The results really confirmed that students were rarely exposed to authentic materials and displayed serious comprehension problems whenever they were exposed to them.
