towards authentic listening materials and identifying the problems they may encounter
while listening. Our focal motive behind the present study is to provoke the teachers’
awareness about the crucial effect of intensive listening with an emphasis on the use of
natural materials in the classroom. We hypothesize that, if students were exposed to
listening materials in general and authentic listening materials in particular they would
have a better understanding for native speech. Through a questionnaire and five tests
administered to third year students at the Department of English, University of
Constantine, we checked our hypothesis. The results were tabulated, described and
analyzed. The results confirm our hypothesis: Third year students would not
understand native speech unless they are exposed to listening with authentic materialsDiplome : Master 2 Permalink : https://bu.umc.edu.dz/master/index.php?lvl=notice_display&id=6575 Evaluating students’ listening comprehension of authentic materials : The case of third year lmd students, university of constantine [texte imprimé] / Khadidja Azizi, Auteur ; Karima Tarbi, Auteur ; Nacif Labed, Directeur de thèse . - CONSTANTINE [ALGERIE] : Université Frères Mentouri Constantine, 2011 . - 93 f. ; 30 cm.

Index. décimale : 420 Langue anglaise Résumé : The present research seeks to investigate and explore EFL students’ difficulties and strategy use
in listening comprehension. Also, to examine the attitudes of first year students of English in the
department of English at Frères Mentouri Constantine University. It was divided into two
chapters. The first one is devoted to the literary review, where it deals with the difficulties faced
by the students as well as the strategies they use to enhance their listening achievement. The
research questions were, First, what major difficulties that first year EFL students face in
listening comprehension are. The second question was, do first year EFL students use any
strategies so as to enhance their performance in listening comprehension? It has been
hypothesized that EFL learners may encounter difficulties associated with speech rate, lack of
background knowledge of the target language, and short term-memory. And, they may use
different kinds of strategies in order to enhance their achievement in listening comprehension. To
check for the validity of the settled hyotheses, a questionnaire was administered to first- year
EFL learners. After analyzing the data quantitatively and qualitatively the main results clearly
demonstrated that listening is the most difficult and complex skill to students. The obtained
results revealed that learners face some obstacles as well, related to: speech rate, memory
limitation, lack of prior knowledge and other difficulties. Furthermore, listening is far more
complicated, which necessitates the utilization of appropriate strategies in order to ameliorate the
learners’ achievement. However, The learners use some strategies but they still have difficulties.
Consequently, this confirms the hypotheses that have been formulated previouslyDiplome : Master 2 Permalink : https://bu.umc.edu.dz/master/index.php?lvl=notice_display&id=15346 Exploring Listening Comprehension Difficulties And Strategies The Case Of First-Year Efl Students At Frères Mentouri, Constantine University [texte imprimé] / Yahia Dib, Auteur ; Nassima Berkani, Directeur de thèse . - CONSTANTINE [ALGERIE] : Université Frères Mentouri Constantine, 2021 . - 83 f. ; 30 cm.

Titre : Promoting listening comprehension through the use of listening strategy instruction : Case study of second year lmd students of english at the department of letters and english, constantine Type de document : texte imprimé Auteurs : Samira Bioud, Auteur ; Nora Khentoul, Auteur ; Yasmine Bahchachi, Directeur de thèse Editeur : CONSTANTINE [ALGERIE] : Université Frères Mentouri Constantine Année de publication : 2015 Importance : 103 f. Format : 30 cm. Note générale : Une copie électronique PDF disponible en BUC. Langues : Anglais (eng) Catégories : Lettres et Langues Etrangères:Langue Anglaise Tags : Language Sciences Listening Comprehension Strategy Instruction Index. décimale : 420 Langue anglaise Résumé : The present study investigates the effect of using listening strategy instruction on developing listening comprehension of second year students at the Department Letters and English at Brothers‟ Mentouri University, Constantine. Many Algerian students find it difficult to understand the spoken language because listening is highly a complex process during which they have to construct meaning out of information provided by the audio material. In actual fact, successful listening requires the combination of an array of strategies; cognitive strategies, metacognitive strategies, and socio-affective strategies. Particular attention is given to this subject matter for the reason that listening is the language skill that is commonly practised in the academic contexts and thus success in listening comprehension is of paramount importance for learners. Listening comprehension, however, is believed to be, a little bit, neglected. Therein lies the need for finding the instructional methods which can best assist learners in improving their listening comprehension. To check the above-mentioned speculation, we used a questionnaire investigating second year students at the Department of English at Brothers‟ Mentouri University of Constantine. And in order to make the findings of this study more reliable, another questionnaire was administered to Oral Expression teachers at the Department of English at Brothers‟ Mentouri University, Constantine. The results of the two questionnaires revealed that most students need help to acquire listening skill and develop their listening comprehension. Hence, it is recommended to instruct them listening strategies to enable them to minimize listening difficulties and to maximize listening strategy use. This demonstrates the pedagogical helpfulness of listening strategy instruction Diplome : Master 2 Permalink : https://bu.umc.edu.dz/master/index.php?lvl=notice_display&id=6446 Promoting listening comprehension through the use of listening strategy instruction : Case study of second year lmd students of english at the department of letters and english, constantine [texte imprimé] / Samira Bioud, Auteur ; Nora Khentoul, Auteur ; Yasmine Bahchachi, Directeur de thèse . - CONSTANTINE [ALGERIE] : Université Frères Mentouri Constantine, 2015 . - 103 f. ; 30 cm.

pronunciation and comprehension. It also identifies the problems students encounter in
listening. Among the solutions that we think could counteract the negative effects of this
problem, teachers’ awareness about the crucial effect of intensive listening, particularly the
use of authentic listening materials in the classroom is uppermost in our mind. In our
hypothesis, we assumed that students were not exposed to authentic listening materials
enough and would, therefore, find problems of comprehension anytime they were exposed to
them and they would not Improve their pronunciation. To confirm this hypothesis, we
administered a questionnaire and a test to second year students at the department of English,
University of Constantine. The results really confirmed that students were rarely exposed to
authentic materials and displayed serious comprehension problems whenever they were
exposed to them.Diplome : Master 2 Permalink : https://bu.umc.edu.dz/master/index.php?lvl=notice_display&id=3453 the importance of authentic materials in pronunciation and comprehension : The case of 2 nd Year LMD students, University of Constantine [texte imprimé] / Radia Sellai, Auteur ; Lamia Sabaa, Auteur ; Azddine Boulfelfel, Directeur de thèse . - CONSTANTINE [ALGERIE] : Université Frères Mentouri Constantine, 2011 . - 69 f. ; 30 cm.

Langues : Anglais (eng) Catégories : Lettres et Langues Etrangères:Langue Anglaise Tags : Applied language studies Semi-technical Vocabulary Comprehension Index. décimale : 420 Langue anglaise Résumé : This research work deals with English for science and technology. It aims to shed light on one
of the main problems that computer science master1 students encounter when reading
technical texts. They do not recognize semi-technical vocabularies. As a first step we put a
hypothesis, if the students of computer science learning English for science and technology
were able to recognize the semi-technical vocabularies, they will not face problems in the
comprehension of any technical text. To test our hypothesis, we relied on two tools of
research: a questionnaire and a test. First, the questionnaire aimed to collect data about
English for science and technology, and about the importance of learning vocabularies.
Second, the test aimed to evaluate the student's level of recognizing semi-technical
vocabularies. The results show that the students even they know what semi-technical
vocabularies are, they consider the semi-technical as general terms. Accordingly it is
recommended to focus more on semi-technical vocabularies.Diplome : Master 2 Permalink : https://bu.umc.edu.dz/master/index.php?lvl=notice_display&id=5623 The importance of semi-technical vocabulary in the comprehension of scientific texts. : The case of master 01 computer science students, university of constantine 1 [texte imprimé] / Yousra Bennouna, Auteur ; Hafida Ghali, Auteur ; Nacif Labed, Directeur de thèse . - CONSTANTINE [ALGERIE] : Université Frères Mentouri Constantine, 2013 . - 36 f. ; 30 cm.
