Résumé : |
This present study is conducted to point out the importance of English in understanding technical terms of computer for Computing and Program Developing Students at El-Aouinet , Tebessa. Our work is an attempt to diagnose the area of difficulty that led to the misunderstanding of these terms, We tried to identify the cause behind this and we actually found out that this problem is due to the students‟ low level in English language that is why they find technical terms difficult to understand. In the light of this, we hypothesized that if Computing and Program Developing Students know English, they will understand technical terms .To test out this hypothesis, we conducted an experiment in which we used two research tools, a questionnaire and a test. The analysis of the findings together with the literature review in the Chapter One provided us with a clear picture about the students‟ level in understanding technical terms and how the lack of English glossary is one of the obstacles for misunderstanding such terms. The results of the analysis allowed us to say that our hypothesis is confirmed and recommends that teaching English is important for students, especially focusing on teaching technical terms of computer that they meet with it during their executing some applets. |

Culture-bound collocations collocations culture awareness understanding Master one students. |
Index. décimale : |

Résumé : |
Students learning English as a foreign language, face difficulties in understanding and using
culture-bound collocations. One of the reasons is the deficiency in their English collocational
competence. The present study aims to investigate first year Master students’ awareness and
knowledge of culture-bound collocations by answering two questions: Are first year Master
students aware of culture bound collocations importance in language learning? Do they actively
and passively know culture bound collocations? To answer the study questions, a sample of 25
first year Master students are requested to answer a questionnaire and take a test. The
questionnaire gives insights about students’ awareness about culture bound collocations,
whereas the test explores the students’ active and passive knowledge of culture-bound
collocations. The findings of the study show that Master one students are aware of the
phenomenon of collocation and they can passively understand the meaning of some
collocations, whereas their collocational active knowledge is limited and needs improvement. |
