It aims at confirming two hypotheses: if students take the context into consideration, they will select the right sense of polysemous words; and if they know the different meanings of polysemic words they will translate them successfully. This study is divided into three chapters: two theoretical and one practical. In order to check the validity of the hypotheses, two research tools are used: a questionnaire and a test. They are administered to a randomly selected sample of thirty students. The results obtained reveal that the students are aware of the role of context; they take it into consideration in the translation process. Furthermore, it is also proved that knowing the different meanings of a polysemic word provides a more accurate translation. Eventually, some pedagogical recommendations are given to promote the students’ performance in translation Diplome : Master 2 Permalink : https://bu.umc.edu.dz/master/index.php?lvl=notice_display&id=6164 Students’ awareness of the role of context in translating polysemous words from english into arabic : The case of first year master students of applied languages [texte imprimé] / Meriem Bouteldja, Auteur ; Manel Belbehri, Auteur ; Youcef Beghoul, Directeur de thèse . - CONSTANTINE [ALGERIE] : Université Frères Mentouri Constantine, 2015 . - 88 f. ; 30 cm.

Foreign language learners may spend all their life acquiring new words; it is a non-stop process. The present research, however, aims to show the role of antonyms as one of the strategies used to learn as many lexical items as possible of the target language rapidly and easily. A sample of learners of English at Mouloud Kacem Neit Belkacem Secondary School has been divided into two groups: one of them was given a session on antonyms whereas the other was not; then, a test of three activities was administered to both groups in order to test the rapidity and easiness of vocabulary learning. The findings have proved that the group which had taken a session on antonyms performed better than the group that had not been introduced to antonyms. Titre : The role of autonomous learning in increasing intrinsic motivation : The case of third year lmd students at the university of constantine- 01 Type de document : texte imprimé Auteurs : Sara Zerar, Auteur ; H. Saadi, Directeur de thèse Editeur : CONSTANTINE [ALGERIE] : Université Frères Mentouri Constantine Année de publication : 2015 Importance : 98 f. Format : 30 cm. Note générale : Une copie électronique PDF disponible en BUC. Langues : Anglais (eng) Catégories : Lettres et Langues Etrangères:Langue Anglaise Tags : Language Sciences Role Autonomous Increasing Intrinsic Index. décimale : 420 Langue anglaise Résumé : The present study aims at investigating students‟ intrinsic motivation and how it would be promoted in order to achieve success in language learning. For that, we suggest autonomous learning, which we think will help students in learning how to learn English effectively and to increase their motivation. Consequently, we hypothesize that if students are provided with the opportunities that support autonomy in the classroom, then they would be intrinsically motivated to learn English. This study is divided into two main chapters : chapter one is a literature review that covers general area of motivation and learner autonomy, chapter two deals with a methodology design in order to answer the research questions and to test our hypothesis. Thus, the research makes use of two questionnaires: one questionnaire for third year LMD students of English at the University of Constantine 1, who are registered in Language Sciences, and another for teachers who teach English as a foreign language at the same University, during the academic year 2014 – 2015. The results of the questionnaires have revealed that most teachers do not provide students with opportunities to make decisions in the classroom. This is mainly due to teachers‟ personality, students‟ level and perhaps the fear of loosing authority. As a result, most students are not well motivated to learn English, therefore, they are not yet ready to take responsibility of their own learning and be autonomous learners. The conditions (i.e. opportunities that support autonomy) for autonomous learning being not available, our hypothesis cannot be confirmed Diplome : Master 2 Permalink : https://bu.umc.edu.dz/master/index.php?lvl=notice_display&id=6188 The role of autonomous learning in increasing intrinsic motivation : The case of third year lmd students at the university of constantine- 01 [texte imprimé] / Sara Zerar, Auteur ; H. Titre : The Role of Group Work in Promoting Students’ : The case of second year lmd students of english at constantine university Type de document : texte imprimé Auteurs : Sarah Merrouche, Auteur ; Farida Abderrahhim, Directeur de thèse Editeur : CONSTANTINE [ALGERIE] : Université Frères Mentouri Constantine Année de publication : 2012 Importance : 84 f. Format : 30 cm. Note générale : Une copie électronique PDF disponible en BUC. Langues : Anglais (eng) Catégories : Lettres et Langues Etrangères:Langue Anglaise Tags : Language Sciences Role Work Speaking Skill Index. décimale : 420 Langue anglaise Résumé : Old teaching methods have concentrated too much on setting out forms and not enough on
practising communication. This is the reason behind the emergence of new approaches and
methods that call for the importance of communication in learning a foreign language.
Nowadays, the main objective of learning a foreign language is to be able to communicate in
that language. Yet, many learners face difficulties when it comes to using the target language
orally. Speaking is said to be the hardest language skill to teach, on the other hand, it is the
most desired skill to be mastered by foreign language learners. This is why it requires
considerable efforts from both teachers and students. So, teaching speaking simply involves
providing students with as many chances to speak as is possible. The present study aims at
investigating the advantages of making students work in groups to encourage them to use the
language fluently, and to create a positive atmosphere in the classroom. The work is based on
two questionnaires administered to both second year License Master Doctorate students and
teachers of oral expression to gather information about their beliefs and attitudes towards the
technique of group work as a way to develop learners’ speaking skills. The results have
shown that group work is considered by both teachers and students as an adequate technique
to enhance the learners’ speaking skillDiplome : Master 2 Permalink : https://bu.umc.edu.dz/master/index.php?lvl=notice_display&id=6729 The Role of Group Work in Promoting Students’ : The case of second year lmd students of english at constantine university [texte imprimé] / Sarah Merrouche, Auteur ; Farida Abderrahhim, Directeur de thèse . - CONSTANTINE [ALGERIE] : Université Frères Mentouri Constantine, 2012 . - 84 f. ; 30 cm.

Titre : The role of idiomatic knowledge in enhancing learners of english reading comprehension : The case of master I students at mentouri university constantine Type de document : texte imprimé Auteurs : Samira Rekioua, Auteur ; El kheir Atamna, Directeur de thèse Editeur : CONSTANTINE [ALGERIE] : Université Frères Mentouri Constantine Année de publication : 2011 Importance : 68 f. Format : 30 cm. Note générale : Une copie électronique PDF disponible en BUC. Langues : Anglais (eng) Catégories : Lettres et Langues Etrangères:Langue Anglaise Tags : Language Sciences Role Idiomatic Enhancing Learners English Reading Index. décimale : 420 Langue anglaise Résumé : The present research sought primarily to investigate learners‟ of English awareness and familiarity with English idioms and the degree to which idioms affect the ease of written texts comprehension and interpretation. This was attempted through investigating their reading comprehension skill which, as hypothesized in the present work, is likely to be hindered by their insufficient knowledge about English idiomaticity. Idioms are expressions with a figurative meaning usually thorny to understand solely on the basis of the literal meaning of their individual constituent words. In the course of this study, first year master learners of English at the University of Mentouri Constantine constituted the sample population for this study. Their reading comprehension of written discourse have been tested in order to find out whether it is/is not impeded by their lack of knowledge about idiomatic expressions. The research results have shown that learners should improve their background knowledge about idioms and idiomaticity so that their reading comprehension would be enhanced.
