Résumé : |
In the present study we try to test Master Two (LMD) students of English at Mentouri
University ,Constantine, abilities in translating legal terms from Arabic into English. Despite
the fact that legal terms have a great importance in everyday life and learners do not seem to
be interested. Therefore, they still face difficulties to convert them. It also shows the influence
of the lack of vocabulary during the translation of such terms. The test and the questionnaire
were administrated to Master (II) students of English at Mentouri University ,Constantine.
The test consists of ten (10) expressions. Students were asked to translate them from Arabic
into English in order to check the validity of the hypothesis. It was hypothesized that if
students gave more interest to the field of legal terminology and use special vocabulary to
translate them, they will have an effective translation and acquire more vocabulary items. The
analysis of the findings proves that students were unable to find the correct equivalents due to
the misunderstanding, the lack of legal knowledge and the use of literal translation as a
method to translate these expressions into English. Thus, some recommendations are
proposed for students to be aware and interested in legal field and its terminology |

Language Science lack reading students’ writings of spelling errors |
Index. décimale : |
420 Langue anglaise |
Résumé : |
Writing in foreign language is one of the most challenging and complex tasks for language learners. It is a skill that requires considerable efforts on the learners’ part to reach an acceptable level of writing. Spelling is one of the problems that the learners face in writing. Many researchers claim that students commit spelling errors when they write because of several factors. Among these are the inconsistency of the English Spelling system, and the student’s ignorance about rules and exceptions that govern the English spelling System. On the other hand, reading is one of the major factors that help learners to acquire vocabulary, and they will commit less spelling errors. In the present work we hypothesized that the luck of reading has an impact on spelling errors of second year LMD students’ writings. Hence, the ultimate aim of the current work is to find out to which extent reading can help learners to reduce spelling errors. The means used to confirm the validity of this study is a questionnaire and a test both oriented to second year students to get information about the of amount spelling errors that the students commit, and the amount of readability. The analysis of the data obtained from the questionnaire and the test revealed that reading is one of the major aspects for vocabulary expansion and overcome students’ spelling errors deficiency |
