Résumé : |
Speaking is considered to be the most important language skill that must be mastered by
language learners. Therefore, teachers have to focus on developing their students' speaking
skill by adopting different motivating techniques in the classroom. Audio-Visual Aids
technique is one of those techniques through which English students can easily get involved
in the classroom to improve their Oral Performance. The present study aims at investigating
the role of Audio-Visual Aids in motivating and improving students' Oral Performance. It is
hypothesized that integrating Audio-Visual Aids is likely to be effective to motivate students
and improve their Oral Performance. To check our hypothesis, we have made use of a
descriptive method in which we have relied on teachers’ and students’ questionnaires. The
teachers ’ questionnaire in intended to gather information about their points of view regarding
the usefulness of Audio-Visual Aids in enhancing students’ speaking. The students’
questionnaire aims at knowing students’ motivation and attitudes towards Audio-Visual Aids.
Through our analysis, it has been indicated that teachers' and students’ attitudinal evaluation
of Audio-Visual Aids reveals that these tools are motivating and effective in terms of
enhancing students' oral performance. |

Applied Language Studies Audio-Visual Students' Level |
Index. décimale : |

Résumé : |
The present study is conducted with the objective of analyzing the attitude of teachers and learners towards the use of audio visual aids and their effectiveness in the process of teaching/learning. It has been hypothesized that if teachers use audiovisual aids in the process of teaching/learning, students will gain more advantages, eventually, their level will be improved and successful results will be brought. The data was collected through questionnaires, besides a test for students. The results are calculated on the basis of percentages. The analysis shows that both teachers and students appreciate audio visual aids’ use in classrooms. It facilitates the role of the former to expound the lecture, while it brings understanding and motivation towards study for the latter. The study also reveals that University of Constantine 1 lacks audiovisual aids (quality and quantity). In this context, many teachers and students have expressed their dissatisfaction with the AV aids’ working conditions and availability at the University Constantine 1.The study concludes with some recommendations, concerning AV aids use, to enhance students’ level in the English language learning. |

Résumé : |
The present study attempts to examine the effects of audio-visual aids in enhancing listening skills to
EFL learners. It aims at improving student’s listening performance by using audio-visual materials. To
answer these questions, the researcher adopts for
descriptive method that relies on a questionnaire administrated to both the teachers and the
students. The questionnaire is submitted to a representative sample of third year
students and their teachers of English Branch at Constantine University. The questionnaire
focuses on discovering teachers and students’ attitude towards these aids. Also this
study based on hypothesis, if the students are exposed to audio-visual aids inside the
classroom, they will engage in lesson and their listening skill will be improved. The
findings of this study support the hypotheses and allow us to emphasise the importance of
audio visual aids as having a great impact on students’ level of achievements. The results
clearly indicate that both teachers and students support teaching and learning with audio
visual aids in the classroom. However, the lack of these materials in our classrooms
significantly affected students’ readiness to learn English as well the listening skill will be enhanced.
The students show great excitement to learn the language through audio-visual
materials and improve their listening ability. Besides, the results reveal that audio visual
aids have an extremely significant role in enhancing the students’ ability to develop their listening
skill. These aids are also useful means to attract and motivate learners not merely for
developing their listening performance, but also in developing the learning of English in general |

Language Sciences Audio-Visual Enhancing Speaking Skill |
Index. décimale : |
420 Langue anglaise |
Résumé : |
The present research paper aims at investigating the impact of audiovisual aids on enhancing the students’ speaking skill, as the majority of the learners face a lot of difficulties in their speaking performance due to different causes. For this aim, we hypothesized that if teachers use audiovisual aids such as videos, pictures, and computers, the students ’speaking proficiency would be enhanced. In order to examine our research hypothesis, two questionnaires were administered: one questionnaire to first year students of English at the University of Mentouri Brothers-Constantine; and another questionnaire for teachers of Oral Expression, to explore their views about the use of audiovisual materials in the teaching and learning process. The results confirm the research hypothesis that the use of audiovisual aids in learning a foreign language truly improves the students’ speaking skill and motivates them to participate and, hence, develops their speaking abilities. |
